So, after an extremely disappointing DQ at nationals for an ECU, I have another one. Can anyone tell me if this is a legal chip?
It looks very similar to the chip in my 525 ECU and doesn’t appear to be aftermarket.

About all you can say is that the chip is marked the same as the OE chip. That says nothing about what might be under the sticker. You’d have to do a binary compare on a known good chip to be sure. But the odds are that if the redline is 6200, the chip is OE.

I mean, I can lift the sticker off if that is what you are referring to, or were you talking about the internal programming of the chip?

Lifting the sticker tells you nothing. The OE and all other chips are the same or equal parts. It is the contents of the UV prom that matter.
