Odometer Quit

#1

The odometers on all three of my flying bricks have malfunctioned just shy of 300K One of them occasionally adds on a few miles but for the most part has quit. Is this a coincidence or is this common for the e30’s? What steps should I take to get them repaired … I’ve been told they have to be removed and sent out. Anything else I should look for that could be causing the trouble?

If the odometer quit at 300K then save the money and don’t worry about fixing it…not worth the time or expense.

these are known for quiting in our 15+ year old cars. The teeth on the gears get dried out and break off eventually. there are companies that repair them but you will have to remove the cluster and send it off for repair. Like Brain said, its really not worth the trouble or costs. Besides, with 300k miles does it really matter if it works?

Do this and double the value of your car!!!

Mine doubles when I fill it up…

Ahhhh … besides having bragging rights on how sturdy my abused BMW cars are, I’m writing an article on how my "little girls" refuse to age. I am hoping for some details on odometers. Thank you for the comments. I have an actress friend with an E30 past 600K with the engine never rebuilt (she drives from Palm Springs to Los Angeles almost every day). I hope to get one up on her with at least one of my cars. But of course I drive alot rougher.
Any info on E30 odometers would be greatly appreciated. I think it’s weird all three of my cars refuse to pass 300K.

North hollywood speedometer can repair them if you want…you will need to remove the guage cluster though…I would spend the $$ on something else though…unless you have money to burn, then send me some… B)
