the Shoe here,
I must say the season finale lived up to all the hype (at least the hype in my mind!).
It seems to me we had it all. Bumping, banging, blown motors, busted egos, seized wheel bearings, Mis-judged Sway bar connections, posses, beautiful groupie gals (most be a newlyweds or a girlfriend), smak talk and missed shifts , and all of that before we ever left the paddack!
On track the action was equally exciting, with Bumping, banging, blown motors, busted egos, wall squeezes, seized wheel bearings, Mis-judged Sway bar connections, corded tires, posses, beautiful groupie gals, oh wait they waved from the stands(Carl, you were so cute, you too Adam), tire smoke, Oil rain, smak talk and missed shifts. Rookies and Old Pros side by side. What a kick. The smells, the colors, the lights, the charactors! Drivers who showed up just to watch the SHOW! Wow!
In the end, many went home satisfied, a few just went home…just kidding, really, it looked to me as if everyones need for speed and close door to door SpecE30 racing was completely satisfied and a Worthy Champion was Crowned. Donny you deserve it! Wear your crown with pride! Cause Seven Angry Dwarves are coming for it next year. You better make every race and be perfect, cause we want what you got! You showed us the right way, qualify in front then run in front and save your car for next month…(after a few missed shifts for excitement, of course).
From the looks of this weekend, and studying the time sheets, it appears there are some new deputy sheriffs in town gunning for Donny’s job. Scoot proves he has after burners,… after he gets hit! (if his car runs). Tony can fly with tires,…and 15 lbs. (he has taught us a new training technique). Sean opened up a can of 170 hp whoop-A**. Greg is fast and opportunistic, but hates the sight of Green on white walls. Brad found a part of his car, un-touched…and touched it, can’t wait to see how fast it is when it is aerodynamic again, or you could leave the bodywork as is and wrap it in a brick color and become “Brick Through Motor” BTM, or “chipped brick” for short. Mike found 3 seconds with the help of 3 coaches, 1 mechanic/crew chief, posse, extra pop-up (for yours truly, thanks) and a GTS2 Championship! Congrats you deserve it! I am comin’ for you next year as well!(keep karting in the off-season and break out the PS7, you are gonna need it!)
We saw a car resurrected from the dead, Tony nice job and thanks for saving Seans car, on the start Sunday. Rich can tech with the best of them and still wheel a car through traffic, don’t let us down Rich, get back out there next season, Enjoy the wine! Gorman WILL be really fast next year with the new 175 hp motor he has planned with his strategically blown one, very clever, “really I had to change it, it blew right before the exit”…how conveeeeenient! Historically, the Mobile Flying horse car looks ready to create history with a team of new and old pros, you guys seemed to get stronger all weekend. Scott proved himself the toughest guy all season, making every race but one and finishing with podiums on the last two race weekends, not to mention he is one heck of a tough guy to pass,… and I have a fender with his signature on it to prove it! Nice Job with a 2nd or 3rd(not sure how the points finished) in the Championship,…I am comin’ for you too! (boy, I am goin’ be busy)
Congrats to all! Most of all a sincere THANKS to all of the NorCal Spec E30 guys for making this old Shoe feel welcome and allowing me on to the grid. I had a spectacular experience. Despite consistant middle of the pack finishes I feel like a Winner! Special Thanks to Steve Ferrario for introducing me to Spec E30 and to Sean and Tony for renting me my first ride. I will always have a piece of the Red Baron in my heart…and hanging on the garage wall!
I want to also acknowledge the outstanding commitment and efforts of “Scoot” Neville and Walter Ford of Valley Motorwerks. Their dedication to this series is the life blood of this healthy organization. I stand up and applaud their fine work, generousity and expertise!
