NON-FIA Seats

#1

While I understand the rules regarding non-FIA seats, which require a seat back brace…

But I am hearing that one should drill into the seat and one should not… One should with alum. seats, while it is not recommended with fiberglass seats…

Now, is anyone running non-FIA approved seats with a seat back brace? Are the seats drilled or near the seat?

I don’t beleive you need to drill into the seat for a brace. My cage builder recommended just a brace that backs to the seat, but not actualy bolted to it. FIA rated seats also require that if the FIA rating is expired. I’m in the process of getting seats and looked into the FIA and non/used stuff.

I’m probably gonna go with Corbeau. They have the most bang-for-the-buck and seem to be pretty solid. Maybe upgrade in a few years. I’m gonna have the brace done regardless of FIA or not, can’t hurt.
