NOLA Motorsports Park, September 20-21, 2014

Clarification:
Gate access is 24 hours with a wristband, so if you get there during business hours to set up you are fine. If you arrive after 9 with your rig, you will have to park outside and go in in the morning. If you know you are running late you might give them a call. One time i didn’t get in until after 11 pm and they let me in since they knew i was running late. Not a guarantee just my experience.

Who all is doing the Friday DE?

#43

Rob, Mark and I are signed up for Friday

#44

How do you get the $200 option in MS Reg for the Friday DE?

#45

I think there was a link at the MotorsportsReg page. I didn’t see the link until I’d already signed up for the track day. Then I contacted the track via MotorsportsReg, and they refunded me $100.

I’ve had several email exchanges with them since. They have been very quick to help.

Dad and I are in for friday, think Richard Bratton is too. Understand that Friday is stricktly a NOLA day, NASA is not involved. I have been there for Fridays where there has been open passing and some where it has been limited passing zones, but all will probably be point by. Never had any luck getting them to change their minds so don’t be disappointed if its not open. It’s still very vaulabe and its a huge fast track so its not like you are on top of each other. They also typically work fewer corners on Friday but visibility there is excellent so it has never been a problem, just make a note of the stands as more will be occupied for NASA.

We are working on some additional info for about the weekend. Couple things right now to note:

Power is only available on the fence along pit road and on the fence accross the paddock (basically the fence lines where you see light poles in google maps). They are running out so call Reynell at the track if you need power. It is $40/day. Free parking is available in the interior sections of the paddock (no power).
Fuel is (usually) available at the track and is reasonable (93).
They used to have a grill/restaurant but i think they may have closed it so not sure about lunch. Will inquire.
Planning on having a SpecE30 cookout Friday night. Details to follow but pretty self explanatory.
DO NOT SPEED IN WESTWEGO (area around the track). They have cameras and cops everywhere. (remeber the movie “Nothing but Trouble”?).
Cabs will take you anywhere to and from The Quarter; we are about 25-30 min away. Don’t expect to find free parking down there either.
Public urination will get you arrested. Not much else will.

I reserved two RV spots side by side near the covered paddock. We can use the extra space (60x25 or so) for spec e30. There will be trailer and truck parking across/nearby and anyone can use anything ive got on the trailer, including the lift. No formal arrangement here but let me know if you want to join the spot. should be plenty of room for most if not all. Also this spot is near the bathrooms, which are the nicest airconditiond portajohns you will ever see at a racetrack. Seriously.

I’m unfortunately out for Friday’s track event (practice and learning a track is overrated  ). We should be there early enough in the afternoon/evening for the cookout. If there is a Spec E30 paddock area (formal or informal), let me know the details. Right now I may be the only Texas SE30 representative, but still trying to convince/coerce others. Definitely looking forward to it!!!

I agree that Brian’s posts are becoming eerily like mine.
He’s gone from posts that say “Gress you’re full of shit” to writing posts organizing paddocks and social activities.

I’ve not hijacked his account, I swear.

#52

I’ve been compared to Scott Gress by Scott Gress. I need a drink.

#53

Could be worse. There’s this guy named JJ up in MidAtl…

#54

I’m signed up for Friday and for the NASA weekend. What is the plan for Fri & Sat night? Anyone getting a hotel room in downtown NOLA, do we have a non-drinker willing to be the DD or shall we pitch in and get a Limo VAN service?

Kart grill is closed but they will have food trucks which is actually a better option in my opinion so please support them.

#57

Bummer too, Kart Grill was pretty tasty.

#58

If you find trouble that can’t be fixed at the track or U need parts, call Logan Wheeler at BimmerWerks. They are right across the bridge and will fix anything. Saved my weekend several times. (504) 738-2156.

#59

On Motorsports Reg, register for half a day $200 and if you are doing the NASA event, they will give you a full day for that $

We should work in some karting shenanigans. NOMP has a pretty awesome little rent-a-kart facility.
