NOLA Cancelled - Race at AMP Sunday Sept 21st

So, there’s a Spec E30 and Spec Miata race that same Sunday at AMP, who would like to do that. It’s an all day event, open track with 2 races in between, you’ll get up to 4 hours of track time that day alone. I was really looking forward to NOLA, but I also was looking forward to racing that weekend, so we have to come up with something to fill that void. Any other suggestions for that weekend?!

The whole day is for $375, but it’s a lot of track time. We have a large garage where we can all hang out. I’ll provide Lunch for everyone!

BTW - I can house 2 guys at my house comfortably, 3 if somebody likes to spoon I live 45 min away from the track

Another good thing… we don’t have to be there till 8:30am, it’s only us and the Spec Miatas.

So, we finally did AMP. Ryan W, R.Eskew, Mark Issa, Hector Reiney y yo. Gotta say it was a lot of fun, really tight track, but the racing is real good, we went side-by-side everywhere (not what I expected) A lot of track time, it started at 9am, and by 2:30 we were exhausted! Lunch was catered and it was great, also free beer! Ryan won both races, and at the end of the day, Ryan got overall First Place, Rob Second and Mark Third, podium ceremony with champagne and cool trophies. It’s something we should do at least once a year, the second race it’s inverted field, so it’s a lot of fun. I can work with the entry price if I have at least 10 cars. We arrived at 8:30 and left around 4pm (you can stay on track from 3pm to 5pm solid if you like) So it doesn’t really take up your whole weekend. And next year, they’ll probably have a pool, so you can bring the kids. Oh, you can also drive your race car to the track like Rob, lol! :laugh:

You have dates for the next AMP events like this? Preferably extending thru 2015. I have to schedule this stuff way way in advance in order to remain married and financially solvent.

They have 1 race a month, the schedule will come out early next year. It would be good to schedule a race where we have a big break during SE Events.

Usually there are a bunch of Miatas, were they as quick as the E30 on that tight AMP track?

Yes, there was a lot of Miatas, the fastest time was posted by SE30, but the Miatas are running about the same times, maybe .5 sec slower. I drove one yesterday, and that track is better suited for the Mazdas for sure! HP doesn’t really help you, and the fact that the SE30 are top heavy doesn’t really help our class. BTW - the miatas were running Hoosiers R6’s

Did they make you run butt plugs for sound?

Nope B)

We had them, but were not required to use them.
