I’m campaigning my 1989 325is in BMWCCA K Stock class this year as well as SPEC E30 class. What are you guys using for an air filter? Where do I get my SPEC E30 rear window decals, plus all the others? What is the best bang for the buck muffler?

Thanks for your advice!

I’m using a stock airbox & filter (the car came with a cone adapter & K&N)… Carter can get you the SpecE30 window decals.

There’s a couple of muffler threads and look at the dyno thread, for exhaust performance info, as well.

Steve:

I’m using the stock paper filter that Advance Auto Parts had on the shelf that day. Chris Cobetto is using the paper filter that was in the car when he bought it! He told me that he might upgrade to a brand new stock paper filter, as a winter project.

I can get the window decals to you. $33.00 delivered. carterhunt@aol.com

I have two $50.00 ea. cherry bomb straight-throughs on the car. They don’t seem to flow any better than any other aftermarket exhaust but they definitely flow better than a stock setup, according to the dyno testing we did last year.

'See you at the track.

The stock exhaust flows pretty good…most of the performance gains with aftermarket are weight savings. The air filter is another area where dyno shows hardly any real gain except a cool sound. Take Carter’s advice, The E30 is pretty darn good stock and it is hard to out design the engineers that built it.

I’m ditching my ANSA muffer in favor of cherry-bomb style glasspacks. I think they are the hot setup for SE30.

So I have an ANSA muffler for sale if anyone’s interested

I have Twister race mufflers on my street car.

http://www.flopro.com/Twister.htm Model 41244 fits in stock location with slightly modified stock pipes. My car does have a cat which helps keep the noise under control. In this configuration they on the loud side on the street but legal on the track.

They look and sound like glass packs but reportedly (I stress the word reportedly) flow better at max RPM. $39.95 ea. I like em but I am looking for validation of the effect on power.

Anyone have any dyno data on these?

Don

I saw an internet "grass roots " flow test for air filters ant the OEM Mahle was the winner
