New NorCal Race Group E - SE30 and SpecMiata

#1

I just received the official word from NASA NorCal that SpecE30 and Spec Miata will have their own race group (Group E) for the 2009 season. :woohoo: We all got a taste of this at our last event at Infineon and everyone agreed it was a nice fit. It is looking too like for most of the season Group E will have their own qual and race sessions and like at Infineon, both SE30 and SM will do split starts. Pretty cool!

NorCal is also looking at a crossover event (these will be points races) with SoCal at Buttonwillow in October. Stay tuned for that as it hasn’t been completely finalized. Our lone SoCal SE30 racer Victor could have some more SE30s to race with and hopefully those SoCal SpecE30s that are in the works will be ready to race in October. I’m hoping the crossover event will be a needed shot-in-the-arm for SoCal SpecE30.

This is really cool!

We need to find a way to brand Spec E30 and get more visibility in SoCal to help build their ranks. Maybe Spec E30 rear window banners (since the front may be taken) and try to get more of us down to Buttonwillow and Calspeed, even just for track days, and maybe running with BMWCCA will help build exposure. It would also be nice to get a shop or two to back it the way Valley did here.

I may go ahead and do a rear window banner, and am planning on both of those tracks at least 2x-3x this year.

That’s killer news!

I can’t wait till the season starts. Prepping to paint the hood, roof and trunk silver so I can put my construction company logo on the hood as all trucks are silver as the base color. I’ll post picts in a couple of weeks when it’s done. I had Walter make me a Nor Cal Spec E30 banner for the back window and I installed it before Infineon. I would be interested in a Buttonwillow and I would love to do Calspeed if anyone else is interested maybe we could get a bunch of us together and go down to SoCal.

There is already a rear window banner for spec E30 you can email Carter and ask him for one. You might want to order a number of them as they are about $30 each and you can save on shipping to Cali if you order a batch of em. I know I was able to recruit one driver because he saw the banner on the car.

I just looked at the SoCal calendar - 3 of the 4 dates for Buttonwillow overlap with race weekends in Norcal (October being the exception), but the two CalSpeed weekends are open in Norcal. Who can make the trek besides me and Scott?

Hey Scott, you mean like this? http://spece30.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,86/func,view/id,31248/catid,22/limit,10/limitstart,20/

Did you have an idea to paint the mirrors red too? :stuck_out_tongue:

You know that is the exact paint job, same colors even down to the mirrors. How did you hack into my computer and steal my design. I was also going with the exact same two pointed red stripes. Guess our cars will be twins except for the numbers. Hey can I be 93A?

No you should be 93. I’m changing to 36 - seems to be a better number

Mine will probably still be black on 2/14. I’m sure you’re silver and black (Raider fan?) will look sweet. I’ve been working on the underneath to find a couple more seconds to be able to pass you.

I’m (message) bored and want to go racing…
