New gasket required when removing valve cover?

Going to attempt a compression leak-down test next week for first time. I had the valve cover gasket changed a couple of months ago. Would I need to replace the gasket when removing the valve cover to set TDC during the test or should I be able to use the existing one?

You should be able to re-use the gasket if it is only a few months old. Worst case is that it will seep oil and later and have to be replaced.

Yep should be fine to be reused. Just leave it in place and don’t mess with it.

my gasket normally tears. so i just use rtv now.
