New Build

#1

Well I’ve been lurking on the boards for a bit and figured it’s time I start showing some build pictures. My name’s Armando and I’m down in Miami. The SpecE30 scene has been a bit non-existent down in Florida, but it seems like it’s getting going. I’ve heard of about 4-5 builds currently going on not counting mine plus I’m trying to convince my brother to do one too and another friend to get out of American Iron and into SE30. I figured it was time I did something with my old 325es, and what better than to turn it into a racecar. Got myself an engine we had laying around the shop, sent the head out to get machined and started building. In the past week I’ve gotten the car ready for engine removal/replacement and stripped out the interior. I’ve got some pictures up but will be adding some more in the next few days (pictures were from different cameras so I’ve got to find them all). Anyways, I’m hoping to get the car on the lift by next weekend so I can start on the suspension/brakes and getting the new engine in. Then hopefully do an April event in the car before doing all the Cage/Seats and the other stuff for the Comp. School in May. If all goes well I hope to be racing some time this year. I’ve got some experience working on BMW’s since my dad’s had a BMW shop for about 25 years, but I’m always open to suggestions especially since you all are actually racing these cars already and have presumably encountered everything I will be encountering during the build and beyond.

Thanks in advance for any comments and suggestions. And I’m glad to be on my way to becoming a part of this great community.

I have an 86 ES I’m slowly building to specE30. I’d appreciate it if you shared the necessary chassis wiring needed to install the m20b25.

Thanks,
Allen

Welcome to the addiction Armando.
Nice pics I hope to rebuild my engine in the future

I see the plastic covers for behind the headlights off. Don’t throw them away by accident!

Thanks for the tip, but don’t worry my dad refuses to throw things away. If you could see the rest of the shop you’d know that…lol. That place has more parts than the local junkyard. In fact even if I had thrown them away, I’m sure there’s at least 5 other sets laying around somewhere in there.
