Strictly German, the used parts outfit near RA, has a shop in NC. Call them in the morning. Alternately, the various pick and pull junkyards that are in every medium size tow always have guys that will pull parts for a fee. Have one of those guys pull an E or I model manual driveshaft for you. Go to the PickNPull and you’ll see their phone #'s on the corkboard.

I have a spare driveshaft but shipping it to VA would be awful. Just boxing the thing would be a big pita.

it’s “notchy” when you tilt the u-joint (at the dif) either way… like a “flat” spot, is that normal? There is no play if you rotate.

If it is notchy, it is failing or has failed. You can try to find a decent used drive shaft, but a better solution would be to get a rebuilt unit. Bimmerworld is close and a good source.

I went with a rebuilt drive shaft from Peerless on e30tech.
