Nationals 2011 Mid-Ohio

#1

I think it’d be great fun to go to Nationals next year. Lets put together a bunch of guys and make it happen. Ok, so we’re racing on a track we don’t know from a hole in the ground and we’ll get our asses kicked. Who cares? Lets just go to race, drink beer, and admire the umbrella girls.

Think about it now. Start your scheming in Jan and lets put together firm plans in the Spring.

count me in, i don’t get up there much but i’ve driven the track before, and i matriculated from ohio state

After one joins NASA and has their license, what is needed to be able to race or qualify for the nationals in Mid Ohio?
I’m in Kansas City and theres not a real close region, but if I pick and choose races with various regions(Texas, Co, Great Lakes, and Midwest) I can attend 3 or 4 races within an 8-10 hour drive.
The goal would be to attend nationals. Any direction or input would be appreciated.

I’m a strong “maybe”

I made the drive thru Ohio on our way to the Indy 500. The mountains will be a PITA but it’s a nice drive from G-boro…

i ordered the weight loss video but they shipped the wrong one. lamentably, my gastronomic rapacity knows no satiety.

Count me in. And Gress, just because you haven’t driven that track doesn’t mean the rest of us haven’t. That is an outstanding course, probably the most fun you will have on a track.

If I still own it at that time, I have a 4 car hauler and may be able to take fee paying riders along.

If I can get the required races completed I’d be interested in losing at Nationals B)

5 races. You should be able to do it in 2 weekends, toss in an enduro or something.
5. Eligibility
The requirements set forth below must be met in their entirety.

  1. Race class competitors must start and score points in five main races in a NASA
recognized class. Any number of races in any class and any region will qualify as
credit. Participation in Time Trial will be limited to a maximum of 2 credits
towards race class qualification. Endurance events less than 6 hours will count
as 1 race credit for the drivers of the team. Endurance races 6 hours or longer
    count as 2 credits.
  2. Drivers may participate in any racing class at the Championships, regardless of
which class(s) they run to qualify.
  3. Time Trial competitors must meet qualification criteria as set forth in the 2010 TT
    Rules Section 15.
  4. Once the above qualification requirements are met, a competitor may enter as
    many classes as they wish.
  5. Teams as outlined in the 2010 CCR Section 22.4 are eligible for this event, with
the exception of Sections 22.4.5, 22.5 and 22.6.
  6. Any driver that qualifies for the Championships as part of a team may enter any
class(s) as the original team or as an individual; however the team name shall
reflect the names of the drivers competing.
  7. NASA Management/Promoter reserves the right to invite competitors that do not
    fit within these guidelines.
  8. Each class must have at least 4 entries by midnight (PST), Wednesday,
September 1, 2010 in order to be defined as a “Championship Race”. Trophies
and/or prizes may not be awarded to classes that are not designated as such by
    the deadline.
  9. Those drivers that enter an undersubscribed class will be given notice and given
a full refund or offered the opportunity to compete in another class where their
    vehicle can be classified.
I’ll definitely try to make it back to Mid-O.

The first time I drove a Spec E30 was at Nationals a couple years ago. I realized a couple things that weekend:

  1. Cobetto is unbelievable in the rain.

  2. (IndyJim softball coming up…) I am not talented enough to drive 2 different cars well on the same weekend. I kept using my Miata shift & brake points and lines in the E30 and vice versa.

Good idea Scott. I’ve been wanting to go up there for a while and it’s only 8 hours from Charlotte. If it wasn’t for the baby I would’ve gone to Utah and gotten my butt handed to me there

#14

Thanks Elephant4 for posting the eligibility requirements.
It looks like a realistic goal.

Mid-Ohio is a fun track - and yes, Cobetto is unbelievable in the rain - but he does like to leave his gas cap loose…
