NASA-SE: Pot-O-Gold Rush, March 11-13, Road Atlant

#1

NASA-SE proudly presents the annual Pot-O-Gold Rush! at Road Atlanta in Winder, GA on March 11-13, 2011. This will be a fun filled event that promises to exceed all previous levels of NASA-SE quality events. We will have our normal schedule starting on Friday and continuing through out the weekend. This event includes:

High Performance Driver’s Education (HPDE) - drivers of all makes and models of cars can sign up and begin at the novice level (HPDE 1) and work their way to advanced driving skills. All drivers start with classroom instruction as well as an in-car instructor to guide you to drive your car at the limits. All of this takes place with the safety of a racetrack under controlled conditions.

Time Trials (TT) - Drivers will compete for their fastest lap times and win all types of contingency money and prizes. The beauty of TT is the fact that you can do all of this with only your street car and a helmet!

Sprint Races - All of the standard NASA classes will be participating, 944Spec, SpecBoxter, American Iron(AI), Factory Five Racing (FFR), German Touring Series (GTS), Honda Challenge(HC), Performance Touring(PT), SpecE30, SpecMiata, Super Unlimited(SU), Super Touring(ST), etc. Cars will be split up into groups and the racing will be intense to watch and participate in!

3 Hr Endurance Race - All of the standard NASA Enduro classes will be participating. Cars will be split up into groups and the racing will be intense to watch and participate in!

Competition License School - We will teach you everything you need to know to get your NASA Racing License! We will teach you the rules of racing as well as strategies both in classroom and on track.

Instructor Clinic Level I - This is for getting your Instructor’s badge to instruct for NASA. We will cover all types of student scenarios with role playing and hone your instructor skills with some blindfolded driving!

In. Assuming I don’t pop my motor this weekend.

#3

I’ll be running DE3. Any other future SpecE30 guys running DE? Dex? Jon?

#4

Signed up for DE3 also…Cya there :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks to Pantas, we will be paddocked together with the Spec Miatas.

As the new series director for SM, my goal is to promote some “across the aisle” camaraderie, familiarity, respect, etc. that we have within Spec E30. The Spec Miata racers have the same kind of thing going (albeit with fewer possums, pig carcasses, and dudes sponsored by tween fiction writers).

It worked for Obama, so I’ll be hosting a Beer Summit somewhere in the paddock after our race on Saturday. If anyone has a beer preference other than “cheap” and “plentiful” lemme know.

Are congrats or condolences in order?

Re. Obama and the beer summit. You gonna charge a $100 cover and tell us it’s so you can “invest” it on our behalf? So much more wisely than we could ourselves, of course.

The Miata and SpecE30 lovefest is a nice idea. They bringing their wives and girlfriends for us to chat up?

Atlanta’s own Sweetwater420 is a good bargain and much better than standard mass-market weaselpiss.

Miatas required to have #'s visible from the rear this year?

Let’s just keep the mavericks out, ok? :stuck_out_tongue:

I might have to venture down for this “love fest”

Congrats by the way, even though I pegged you for more of a follower than a leader.

Beer preference: Delirium Tremens
One of my all-time favorites (strong Belgian Pale Ale in white bottle with pink elephants); I should be ready to savor this after comp school and my first race. Not an easy brew to find, so I will look to bring some also.

I am not sure i am going to make this one:(
If I do it will be as a late entry. Like last minute late.

Does it have to be YOUR first place mug?
I might have one laying around here I can let you borrow for the weekend. :stuck_out_tongue:

So who is going to be nice and lend you their cup? ZING

I like Chimay if someone else is buying. lol Any beer can be good beer is just depends on the company.

Steve, congrats and good luck. I think that having some of the Miata and Spec E30 people mingle a little might not be a bad idea. You might get to know the “miata guy” that you are going 2 wide with. Always a good thing to know who is next to you if possable.

Dad and I will be making the trip over for this race and see if maybe I can post some better results. Regraurdless it ought to be a good time.

You nailed it. Patton and Chuck have hit on that theme repeatedly with the SE30 crowd. I am simply stealing their good idea to encourage familiarity among all of us in SE30 and SM.

With split starts and the VERY similar lap times we run, in all but the longest races the only time the classes will be mixed is when the lead cars are catching the other class’ slowest cars. There’s no reason for the car being passed to fight that kind of pass…

OK, off my soapbox. I’ll save some for March. :woohoo:

PS - Madooski - How many of those “#1 of 1” trophies do you have anyway?

#14

Steve, it is not difficult to get a First place beer mug for Maduski as he is the only one in his race class.

I, too, was good at that back in the day.

Steve - with the amount of double yellows at CMP you get quite a bit of a mix fairly often. Hopefully races will be a bit cleaner going forward.

I’ll be there instructing!!

#20

I will be there too. Looking forward to my first event of 2011. I hope to get there around 3:00 on Friday. I see we are on the pro pit side this time and we have a prime paddock spot as long as we can keep it that way. I would say I could reserve some space for us but with a Friday event too, Im sure we will have been infiltrated by then. I know Ranger will prbably be there some time on Tuesday. What about everyone else?
