NASA-SE::Pot-O-Gold Rush, Mar 9-11, Road Atlanta

#1

NASA-SE proudly presents the annual Pot-O-Gold Rush at Road Atlanta in Winder, GA on March 9-10-11, 2012. This will be a fun filled event that promises to exceed all previous levels of NASA-SE quality events. We will have our normal schedule starting on Friday and continuing through out the weekend. This event includes:

High Performance Driver’s Education (HPDE) - drivers of all makes and models of cars can sign up and begin at the novice level (HPDE 1) and work their way to advanced driving skills. All drivers start with classroom instruction as well as an in-car instructor to guide you to drive your car at the limits. All of this takes place with the safety of a racetrack under controlled conditions.

Time Trials (TT) - Drivers will compete for their fastest lap times and win all types of contingency money and prizes. The beauty of TT is the fact that you can do all of this with only your street car and a helmet!

Sprint Races - All of the standard NASA classes will be participating, 944Spec, SpecBoxter, American Iron(AI), Factory Five Racing (FFR), German Touring Series (GTS), Honda Challenge(HC), Performance Touring(PT), SpecE30, SpecMiata, SpecZ, Super Unlimited(SU), Super Touring(ST), ThunderRoadster(TR), etc. Cars will be split up into groups and the racing will be intense to watch and participate in!

Competition License School - The best way to learn the strategies and rules to compete in NASA races!

Instructor Clinic Level I - Learn the key techniques to becoming a certified NASA Instructor.

Jim, Thanks for getting this started.
I missed CMP at the last minute after a dyno test at Balanced Performance told me that the car was down about 15% on power. So, I decided to save the tires and begin the diagnostics and fix. (more on that elsewhere.)

I’ll be at RA if the car is back in good form!

The Bill who is gonna get punted by a Miata.

#8

…and this is the smack talk from a miata driving, wine cooler sipping cross-dresser. See you all at the track!

#9

New motor is in and running! See you there. Turns out the other was really sick. Head gasket issues and a lot of vacuum leaks.

#10

That’s a lot of excuses in one post…

My car will make it’s debut at Roebling next month. Fred has, ahhhhh, rear end problems, due to being tagged at CMP. I tried to help him by sending him e36 subframe bushings. He caught me out tho.

I’m trying to get a hold of Paul Poore to get a “front piece” for the spec exhaust. Mine got bent in the crash so I can’t get my exhaust installed w/o replacing the front ~2’ of spec exhaust. Other than that I’m mostly down to setting up the interior. My idea of “the LEAST amount of gauges, warning lights and switches necessary” to get the car thru it’s first event might not be everyone’s.

No RATL in the agenda for me this year

#17

Evan, we look forward to racing with you guys at VIR in 2 weeks.

Yep, when Al & I pulled the right trailing arm we found subframe issues. I’ve (almost) got all the parts - but work won’t let me get everything back together in time. Y’all have fun tho’!

#19

Anyone else up for making a SE journey to VIR in 2 weeks?

#20

Yup I believe a few of us are making the trip up there, myself included.
