[quote]Jim, have you tried replacing the control arm? Or are you waiting for someone else to drive the car and then have to fix it 'cause they messed it up?

Ha,ha, get busy.

Not yet… wanna borrow the car? :stuck_out_tongue:

Oops, technically speaking it is a trailing arm.

No, I don’t want to drive the car.
No, I’ll not be at CMP anyhow.

What was the new and improved dyno number? Time to start enforcement of the non-existant dyno rule?

I had a tough go of it with NASA-FL this weekend and it looks like I can’t bring the SE30, so unless there is an at-track fix in progress, I am going to bring my Factory Five.

Known failures:

Back driver side wheel bearing dead. Real dead. Lots of play.

Gas tank nasty. The car will run strong for about 3-4 laps on a full tank of gas. Then it has a fuel starvation related feel to it. It isn’t gas level, because if you bring it in and refill with the 1 gallon of gas it used, it didn’t fix it. I pulled the fuel filter and drained it backwards and it was full of rust looking goo. I drained the tank and the lower crossover tube (car is an 87) was plugged solid. I cleaned it all up, but it still doesn’t work. I am thinking the fuel pump gets soft after a few laps. Flow seems pretty weak when I pull the fuel filter off and let it run into a gatorade bottle.

I do not know if the transfer pump that pumps gas from the passenger side to the driver side is dead or not.

It has a fairly strong vibration at speed. Not sure if that is the wheel bearing or not. A lot of play in it. Can that be the cause of massive vibration?

When the car is running after a few laps, if you push in the clutch and bring the gearshift to the left like where you would go to then push it either up or down for 1st or 2nd gear, just the push to the left feels a little like a gear grinding. It’s not serious, but clearly something is wrong. This alone would not cause me to miss the weekend.

Thoughts?

In the SE we had heard about the “Florida Chicken Turtle” but hadn’t seen one up close, good to hear you are coming up anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Are we running full course, east, or west?

I have pulled my tank, cleaned the x-over line and recently replaced the in-tank pump and got all of the gunk out of the Panther. We didn’t realize that we hadn’t put gas in the Panther recently until Maduske drove it and asked “when does the low fuel light come on?” - we didn’t realize it HAD a low fuel light!! :silly:

I’ll be the first one on site so I’ll secure our area. I have Jim Pantas’s “SpecE30 Only” parking signs. When you arrive at the SpecE30 perimeter be prepared to display the near recognition signal, which is a beer held aloft in either hand.

Note that taunting re. engine problems will result in immediate weapons free. Be safe.
