Oh yes. Finally, an event I’m going to attend!

#3

Yes indeed, go ahead and engrave my name on the enduro trophy. Jimmy, I’m going to school you again. Perhaps you should just stay home and avoid the cost/embarrassment? It’s your call.

#4

Oh my!! another race close to home. Must be there.

So I guess that means that you found two “hired guns” to drive your car and you are just going to man the radio this time?

Zing… :woohoo:

#7

Now, that Barber is behind everybody. Who’s coming to this one?

#8

I’m out.

Ill miss June and August at RA, busy working during both. Lame.

But at least Foushee wont have to worry about me crashing him!

Steve- No hard feelings man, I enjoy the smack, hope you do to!

#9

Dang. Out. I have a conference in Philthadelphia starting on that Sunday. Since it isn’t work-related, I doubt my boss would be cool with me ditching Friday to run the enduro…

Now if Pantas would let me run Lightning and Thunder on Saturday as my 2 sprint races… Hmmmmmmm.

Steve D.

PS - If we can get a gentlemen’s (and LPatton) agreement to run R-888s, that might sway my decision.

PPS - Jones and Geegar - The midpack just won’t be the same without you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Its all good.

The transmission is still out of my car following the enduro at CMP. Had to hold it into third gear for the entire race. Try driving into a carrosel with one hand and the rear end sliding while holding the car in gear. Not fun! I told the mechanic not to rush fixing it, as I couldn’t really get my head right last week. The IRS is doing an audit on my company that is expected to last 6 months. That, plus the sudden need to have a root canal done kept me away from Barber.

I do plan on recapturing my rightful place on the podium at Road Atlanta. I’m pretty sure I can remember what not to do after a race there. Perhaps Jimmy will remind me.

Gasman

An IRS audit and a root canal at the same time?? You are joking, right?

Otherwise you may need a karma check.

Al

Not joking at all. And to top it off, I got a call from the DOT wanting to audit my trucking company.

Steve,

Are the RA1s really that superior to R888? I was thinking about getting a set since Phil has them cheaper then R888. But it seems people are very quick on R888s this year.

Gasman - jesus, that is pretty awful.

I don’t know. I think in a spec series there should be a spec tire. Most folks are running 888s I think.

The true Racer X formula is to run 888s in qualifying (good for a few laps then they give up) and RA1s for a 30+ minute race (but you have to put some front camber back in and stiffen up the rear bar between sessions to account for the change in sidewall stiffness). :S

Score one for the customer-friendly NASA-SE. Jim is letting me do the Saturday races, so I am in.

Now about that gentlemen’s agreement. Do we have one? Anyone? Bueller? I need some skins for Nationals and I know there won’t be one there…

Steve D.

#16

Steve, I think that racer X already has new RA1s.

Good luck on the agreement…Start another thread, perhaps.
Stop me now, as I am close to purchasing.

I don’t know if anyone else is following it on the SE Forum, but there is a possibility of having two 30 minute Sprints on Sunday rather than the usual Qual and 45 minute race (see http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=28666). I like that idea!

#18

JLevie is correct. NASA is going to give us two races on Sunday, both of 30 minute duration. Note this is the same amount of track time as a 15-minute qual and 45-minute race. This is definite for the June event at RA. The updated schedule is available at http://www.nasa-southeast.com/2009JunRA.pdf

So, the grid for the early race will be based on race results from Saturday. The Q-race results will set the grid for the afternoon race.

There will be splits, worked out like we always do.

Toyo only pays for two events/weekend and one/day, so the afternoon race will be designated as the contingency race.

As for season points, it’s up to us whether we wish to grant season points to the Q-race or not. Assume no additional drops (still drop 2)

Please vote here. (SE regulars only thank you)

Gasman, if it is any consolation, I got six tickets in 24 hours hauling a trailer in VA that I have been using without problem for 15 years…they are looking for revenue, from any source…good luck on the audits…

Thanks Al, but I find no comfort in anyone else having pain. This is really getting ridiculous. Within the last 48 hours, one of my four trucks was stopped twice for a DOT inspection within twenty hours by the same inspector with two different drivers. Both inspections found no infractions and yielded no fines, but the inspection lasted several hours. Drivers can only work 70 hours/week and they are on the clock for inspections.
