NASA Nationals 2012

There’s a thread on the NASA forums with a lot of people expressing their concern/opinion about the location of the Nats. Check it out - http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=55362

For a change eh. Last time I checked they just ran Nationals at Miller 2 and 3 years ago. I was hoping for another track not in the middle of a lowly populated state. With that being said, I still might make the drive out there.
Once again, where do you expect it to be?

I see all this complaining, and nobody is coming up with a better suggestion. That tells me the current system is the lesser of several evils.
I dont think there is a “better” solution.

I’m pretty curious to know what exactly “sucks” about Heartland Park. I’ve heard a couple people say that, but nobody backs it up with details.

#144

Last time I saw the place there were no electrical hookups for RVs. Track was pretty booring. Very hard on brakes, lots of slow corners. Lots of places (at the time I was there) to hit things (no tire barrier).

Close to an airport though?!

I think the best solution would be that it rotates through each region each year or at least among 4 or more tracks. I just don’t think that running it at Miller 4 out of 6 years seems like a great solution.

I think it would be a big mistake to make nationals any further east or west than it is right now. This is NATIONALS, not Regionals. It’s important to make sure that Nationals is in a location in which it is feasible for as many people as possible to attend.

FYI, I don’t really know the geographic layout of the four regions, so my comment may not be relevant.

SteveD - Women putting out is never an off topic discussion, nor is it something to apologize for, nor is it ever over the line. Even Natalie Black would agree.

I have no idea why we are having a debate regarding where the Nationals is held, particularly in light of the fact that there must be 200 Spec E30 cars in the nation, and only 25 of them come to Nationals anyhow. NASA will set the location. You should all come. Many of you won’t, and thats OK, but complaining about the venue won’t help. If you do come, you will love the place, you will love the weather, you will love the track, you will love the experience.

Can I complain about the date? Should be a week before Labor day not the week after. Unless it was at Road America in which case it could be on Christmas and I wouldn’t care.

You don’t realy want it to be at RA honestly. I think we should focus more on getting more cars to the nationals. I really wish NASA would start some sort of tow fund for guys traveling long distances. Even if it was only a couple hundred bucks, that $1,200 gas bill for towing both ways would seem a little bit easier to bite into.

Maybe get Toyo to pony up?

How cool would it be to have 50 spec E30’s! Largest field I ever started in was in the mid 50’s at the 2004 SCCA runoffs. 2005 was almost as crowded. I am about to call Miller and reserve my RV paddock space which can accommodate two cars. Looks like $175 for the whole week with a 50amp power hookup. Then I won’t have to run the generator every time I need power.

How about this…each region has its own championship based on X number of races over the year. The top three qualify for the nationals and a NASA provided tow fund. Chuck

#152

Jeez. I think if NASA gave you guys free strippers and free reign with them, some of you would complain they weren’t tall enough. The date is what it is. The track is where it is. Just start making some plans to be there. It really is a great time. NASA isn’t going to give you a tow fund, even if you promise to bring baby Jesus with you, so work some overtime and abandon the idea of any free handouts. NASA isn’t run by Obama (sorry Kish). You’ll have to fund it yourself, but it really is worth the trip, and there are lots of ways to get there. The OPM guys took my car there for cheaper than I could have towed it there myself. Make it happen people.

Top 5 or 6

Best finishes from best 4 weekends determine champ

Tow fund…

I’d be up for that.

Top 3 gives you like 15 cars at nationals? The nationals needs real TV time to get interesting.
