Motronic Pinout Diagram

#1

I whipped up a little diagram of the DME harness from the BMW Electrical Diagrams. I could not identify all the pins and I did not physically trace out the wiring in my car so it may not be entirely accurate. If anyone sees corrections that need to be made, let me know please!

#2

I didn’t post the right one earlier, here it is.

Last year I marked pin 53 on the engine harness with a black felt pen. Since then it takes only seconds to test the TPS. You just have to pop off the connector from the DME, run multimeter probes from pin 53 to ground and see if you get continuity at WOT.

#4

I know this is an older thread but I wanted to see if anyone knew what the voltage signal vs. RPM was. I’d like to tap into the DME so get that information to a DAQ system.

#5

The engine speed output of the DME is a pulse train. I’ve only looked at that signal on on DME and it was about 5v.

#6

So there’s no easy way to read in RPM as a function of voltage? Hmmm…

#7

There is no TPS signal, it’s just full throttle switch.

#8

What? I’m not concerned about TPS.
