Motor For Sale

#1

I had this posted in the classifieds but since it came up in another thread and I started getting emails - that confirmed my suspicions that no one looks at those (meaning the classifieds).

So -> FOR SALE:

Sunbelt / Kinetic .20 over Motor - $5500

Never installed in the car, just dyno / break in time on their engine dyno. Fully dressed just drop in and go.

These guys have built the top Spec Miata motors for years as well as the motors for many of the BMW pro teams in Grand-Am / WC, etc.

Contact me at dtomracing at@at G (giraffe)mail dotdot com.

For details, I’m in Atlanta not super thrilled about shipping but will figure something out if someone wants it. As for why I’m selling - well we’re going Grand-Am racing next year so no real need for this now.

Now since I imagine 98% of this thread won’t be interested parties but people debating the price, why this is needed, etc. If you’re in a competitive region, need the HP, wonder if someone else has more HP on you, or want to make a serious run at nationals you may want a motor like this, but its not for everyone obviously.

Thanks.
Jim

I have engine shipping figured out. As long as folks work out how to put the engine on and off of the truck, it’s pretty cheap. Give me a holler if you want details.

Don’t think about Jim’s engine just in terms of a couple more hp, think also of durability. There’s all sorts of things that expert engine builders do to make motors more durable then OEM. I mean other then keeping me away from it. Dynamically balanced, dimensions adjusted for cooling differences around the block, etc.

Yeah, seriously…RELIABILITY!

8 junkyard, not sure of the history, motors x $750 a pop=$6,000

If I had the scratch, I would be on this like white on rice.

That is a good deal. I haven’t shopped in a while but Sunbelt’s Spec Miata motors used to run ~$7k without new pistons for the overbore. 50% more pistons and a lot more parts for this one…

I’m with Maduske. One good scratch-off ticket away from calling this one mine.

I think it would be obvious but I’ll state also everything is new, oil pump, cams, valves, springs, rocker arms, you name it.

Basically for the same price as a BMW crate motor you get one pro built, .20 over, with lots of accessories to ease installation (manifolds, thermostat housing, wires, plugs, etc)

Jim,

Do you take food stamps?

#7

No but if I don’t sell this and we keep getting ‘surprised’ with our GA project I may be on them soon.
