Mirrors and visibility

Thanks for the reply Jim. I remember that one side of each mirror panel is at the face of the mirror housing and the other is recessed into the mirror housing. I think your “near edge” is the side at the face of mirror housing and “far edge” is the recessed side. Correct?

I have the mirror installed so the “near edge” is on the left. The left end of the mirror is more forward in the car than the right. I think I have it installed as you recommend except for not being slid over to the right enough.

We may be saying the same thing, just differently. To restate:

The left edge of each mirror should be away from the driver and the right edge closer to the driver. You should not be able to see into the gap between the mirrors.

Ha! I’m installed backwards, but I did it on purpose due to the excessive discontinuity between the panels when installed the correct way. I’ll try one more time, but it looks like time for an AllView.

Thanks

That suggests to me that you don’t have the mirror angled enough w/respect to a line across the car.

Well the wife insisted I get the Wink. So I purchased a 5 panel version. What’s the best mounting strategy? It’s a little wide for the halo with the gussets, so it’ll have to go on the windshield side of the forward bar.

Aluminum extensions, hose clamps, weather stripping…

This is how I mounted my 5 panel Wink mirror from the front of the halo between the bar and the windshield. Hopefully it’s rigid enough to not vibrate too badly…
