Go easy on Mike and Mike. These reality shows make everyone sign iron clad confidentiality agreements. If you’re able to get either of the Mikes to reveal anything… you’re likely going to get them in trouble.

SO with that said… who won?
Well if we can get Skeen sued by the shows producers he may not have enough money to compete next season. So Mike who won again?

I think we find out the same day the spec exhaust details come out.

It will be fun to watch!

The same day as the schedule for the Setup III?

So when does this start? I don’t see anything on SpeedTV.com

I read some of the Setup Forums today. They were saying that the series will start in Feb.

In order to understand what the show was about before our representatives stepped up to the line I recorded the reruns the other week and watched them all. Having never seen an episode of any reality show ever, the whole concept was pretty new to me.

I found that I couldn’t shift gears and get into the “reality”. I kept analyzing how the director and writers were attempting to create drama.

In reading the forums it looks like a lot of folks are under the impression that the objective of the show is to find the top performing team. They seem to miss the fact that they are watching a team effort of producers and directors that are working to provide an entertainment product that achieves decent viewer share.

The producers and directors couldn’t give a darn who wins, their objective is to attract viewers. So the best teams (driver, crew chief & mechanic) don’t necessarily get on the program and the best team doesn’t necessarily win. They want interesting teams on the program and they want the process of competition to create drama.

I’m beating this dead horse because when you read the Set Up forums you get the impression that the viewers have deluded themselves into thinking that the show is some charity designed to find the best amateur racing teams in the world.

All that being said, it was interesting. It was amusing to see the “bad boys” that were full of talk get their asses handed to them by quietly skilled drivers. The show tried hard to make the quiet competant guys seem brash and obnoxious, but it was transparent. The token chick got crushed. Laura needs to apply and set that to rights.

I noted in the website that teams that are selected for interviews fly to LA and spend a couple days there on their own nickel. The teams that are selected spend 4 weeks in LA and have to cover their own expenses. That’s kinda rough on the 9 teams that don’t win anything.

Am looking forward to seeing the Mikes in this season’s episodes. Hopefully they kicked some butt and had lots of fun. In some ways the whole thing seems kinda goofy, but in others it might be a heck of an adventure. I wonder if the confidentiality agreement allows them to tell us about it after this year’s series is over.

With the writers strike still going on… your going to see a lot of “reality” shows.

Excellent! I was worried it wasn’t showing up in their program lineup, but I guess it’ll start soon. Didn’t think to check the forums section.

I know it’s edited for drama and that the best racers don’t necessarily “win”, but it was entertaining watching some portions of the segments. What I really didn’t like was they never really focused on the actual setups! (Uh, the show is “Setup”…) I’d at least like to hear some more technical stuff to see which driver is really a driver/technician…

So says the show’s host on the Set-up forum

Interesting - the drivers are paired up in teams. Sadly, looks like they had to endure Rhys Millen just like the last bunch.
