Midwest series

So what tracks in the general midwest run a regular spec e30 series? I live in Southeast Iowa, within 3-5 hours we have Mid-American Motorplex, Gateway International, and a course or two up by Chicago. I have been on their websites, but didnt see anything on their schedules for Spec E30s. I dont want to start my build if I have to drive 8+ hours to each event.

Find your local NASA region, and check there schedule.

If you can make it to any great lakes races, the competition is far better than mediocre :stuck_out_tongue: . At mid ohio in august we had 5 se30s.

There are no regular drivers who are out of the midwest for Spec E30 that I know of, but there are a number of us in the Great Lakes region with more joining us next year. Great Lakes and Midwest regions have some cross over events so you can expect some Spec E30s at those events. The closest tracks to you that will probably have Spec E30 racers are going to be Putnam Park and Autobahn. Let me know if you have questions or concerns I’d love to get more people running in the Midwest. I was 1 of the first in our region 2 years ago and I think this year we will be around 8 in our region. You have to start somewhere, if you need anything just let me know.

There’s a chance I will be running some of the Midwest events next year. I live in Nashville so technically I’m in the SE, but tracks like Putnam, Gateway, and Mid-Ohio are almost the same distance as CMP and Roebling to me.

I definitely won’t be “full time”, but I hope to get up there and mix it up a little. I’ll try to bring some SE mediocrity with me!

Matt we would love to have you join us anytime. If I was you I would probably shoot to try one of the Mid Ohio races as they will have the largest population of racers from our region. I’m hoping they are going to add the new Kentucky track to the schedule soon which might be even closer for you. I look forward to meeting you sometime at one of our events. Failing that perhaps I’ll make it to a SE event soon.

Thanks for the links guys. Looks like Autobahn is 4hrs, Putman is 5hrs, and Mid-Ohio is 9hrs. Thats good enough for me, hopefully I can get everything done to make some August events. I used to live about 3hrs from VIR in Virginia, I guess I should have stayed out east! haha.

NASA RM comes to Motorsports Park Hastings in Nebraska every year. It is a fun track.

and we’ll be going to Hallett (OK) this year also.

Could you elaborate on the Hallett date please?
I am building a car and hope to be running their COMMA series and would love to chime in on a Spec E30 race there when it happens.

edit: I just looked at the Hallet website. Looks like NASA Texas has a June 13-14 date scheduled there. Life is good.

Now to go about getting that license…
Would NASA recognize the COMMA license after a driver had competed there a few times, or would I need to find a NASA school around the Midwest?
