Mid-west all call

#1

So we can get to know each other, how many around the midwest region are building, or have built cars for SE30. I’m finishing a different car, but when it sells I will likely be building an E30 or similar(E36)

My name is Scott Goodwin and I have a 1991 325i Spec E30. Unfortunately, it is being rebuilt after a little shunt with a Spec Miata at Iowa a few weeks ago. My bad for spinning out but his bad for not following the car in front of him which easily missed me. I have no clue as to what he was thinking. I hope to make Mid America.

I know this may be trying to bring this topic back from the dead, but is anybody else building a car for the midwest area this year? I am trying to finalize decisions on tires, etc, and would kind of like to know if there will be any participation at midwest tracks. Most likely Gateway (near St. Louis), Putnam, Autobahn, MAM, etc. If not, what classes of a similar prep level seem to be the best alternatives? Maybe GTS1, PT(D or E)?
Thanks!

Ken

Well, we bought Scott Goodwin’s car but we are out of central Ohio. Will be at both Putnam’s and maybe Autobahn.

Great! Planning to run spec e30 I assume? I think Putnam may be the first event I get to run-not quite ready for the cage yet. I would really love it if we had enough participation to get a decent run group together-seems like a nice stable rule set and costs should be very reasonable.

Yes, SE30. Look forward to seeing you there.

#7

I will not be participating until the 2012 season, but I am here and slowly building.

Mr. Lucas knows me well.

#8

Glad to hear it, Ryan. Let me know if there is any way I can help.

#9

need to source a cage at some point. Not sure who to use that is fairly close. got any ideas?

#10

Mark McMahan (rollcageguy.com) Is the best in these parts, very fair pricing too. #53 has one of his cages (all the THR cars now as well). If you want cheap, we just pulled a bolt in cage out of #54. #54 goes to Mark on Saturday, he’s near Akron.

#11

Yep, cage is my problem now, too. Just heard from my cage guy that he’s booked until mid-June. :frowning: That would kill the plans for Putnam in May. Anyway, I’ll get my deposit in and hope for a cancellation in front of me to open up an earlier build.

Bought a E30 M3 in 1999. Raced that car from 2001-2006. Sold that car and bought a 90 325is to race in Spec E30. Been racing spec E30 the last 3 years. There is another guy on the south side that races in Spec E30, Carl Furhman. If you need anything let me know. Not sure on a machine shop but I can ask around. What machine work do you need done, is this motor type stuff?
