Mid Ohio august

This might be early for a role call, but like that guy in the movie says “theres racing and waiting”…or something like that.

So who’s in???

#2

Hey Robert, are joining us for a tune up before Nationals? I’m signed up.

#3

I’ll be there. Can’t remember if I officially signed up or not, so I better double check that.

#4

Simon,
I wouldnt call it a tune up but I will do it with nationals in mind
Hopefully others have the same plan and we’ll get a decent size field.
So do we have only 3 or are there others who aren’t talking?

#5

I know Osborne will be there, so we will have at least 4 ;). I doubt there will be too many out of region folks so I would expect around 5 cars total. I guess this is as a good a time as any to ask if you guys fancy doing a standing start in preparation for Nationals?

#6

Usually I prefer rolling but since nationals is standing, I wouldn’t be opposed to it.

Although if SE30 is in a wave with the faster GTS cars and they start directly in front of us, some are likely to stall with those tiny clutches. If thats the case it could be risky (or fun depending on how much you like your car  ).
Just my 2 cents. You regulars should decide.

I plan to be there but not signed up yet. I would prefer standing start if possible. Or at a minimum we all start together.

Mmmmm…standing start sounds great! Wish I was driving this event. But I’ll be crewing this time.

I’m with Michael too. If you guys can’t do a standing start, at least get Royce and crew to let you grid together. That was a blast in July!

I signed up last night. We seem to have 4 again. Will be there on Friday as well still trying to sort out the car and driver.

Look forward to another great weekend.

Guys:

Spec E30 can decide about the starting procedure and we will listen to ideas and suggestions as we get closer to the National Weekend. I’ll bring it up to the group…or you guys help me remember.

In the Mid Atlantic, we haven’t done a standing start this year. You?

I don’t mind which kind of start we do at Nationals. We have never done a standing start in our region (except Nationals) because we are a small group and it is easier to just do a rolling behind the GTS group.

This thread pissed me off… Just kidding. But I did have to go check it out to get the facts straight.

“that guy in the movie”? That guy happened to be Steve McQueen and the movie happened to be LeMans. Certainly the greatest racing movie ever made and one of the greatest movies of all time.

The quote “When you’re racing it…it’s life. Anything that happens before or after…It is just waiting.”

While I was FF through the video to find the quote, I saw things I’d never seen before.
It really was a cool movie that really captured the flavor of a 24hr race.

THAT WAS A JOKE
It may be from before my time, but I do own the movie and know the quoteB) .
Sorry to offend you.
Like you say it is definately the best movie of all time… that was also a joke:laugh:

No offense taken…I enjoy the distraction.

I am trying to fanagle a deal to come to Mid-Ohio for the Nationals just to hang out and watch. My car happens to be in Ohio but I only have one race under my belt so I would not qaulify to run. Besides, I don’t have the funds this year anyway.

Have fun!

No problem. I plan to be in the same general area. Is Jack and the rest of the guys going to be down? How many Spec E30’s need a spot saved?
