Mid-Ohio April 2010

If you liked the wheel bearing change, stick around for a clutch change  not quite a 1/2 hour job, especially in 35-40 degree weather from 7:30pm until the early morn.

I got a taste of the helpfulness and one big family attitude when I broke a rocker arm last year and everyone tried to get us back on track for the next day, but I REALLY got a huge helping of ā€œTHESE GUYS ARE BEYOND AMAZINGā€ when we met Matt from Motorkars for the first time. He not only found us a replacement clutch, he offered us use of his garage, all of his tools, and then drove to Columbus and back to retrieve the part!!! Grateful doesnā€™t even begin to describe the feeling and I hope to return the favor or at least pay it forward at some point in my racing endeavors. It really is one big family trying to help each other out. And I found that out again when the front wheel bearing gave me troubles and three different people offered me a spare wheel bearing and whatever help and tools I may need. Thanks to everyone for everything just making this weekend possible!

To second Kevinā€™s postā€¦the MotorKars guys (and of course the E30 family) were incredibly hospitable and to say they went above and beyond is a gross understatement. The racing community is truly one of a kind and Iā€™m especially glad to be associated with the best in class as one of the Spec E30 guys.

Thanks for making our first race weekend one to remember, hereā€™s to many more!

Kyle - I thought youā€™d appreciate the profile pic.
Kevin - update your pic with your own car, prefereably the driver side

Race: start seemed clean from where we were watching but what we couldnā€™t see is Kevin got tapped in the left rear by a overly optimistic Prelude cutting across the top of 8 with 2 tires in the grass which left a nice dent and spun Kevin. We couldnā€™t see the damage from inside the track, all we saw was that he had dropped back. Sean got balked in the first corner with a lane choice that ended in a very slow 944. Rev Rob got by Sean somewhere, perhaps due to that same 944. Anthony pulled out to ~6 second lead over the next couple laps. Sean got around Rob and started closing up the gap to Anthony who had started on perhaps too high a tire pressure. Sean eventually passed Anthony for his first win! Congrats Sean!

Congrats Sean!!! Go Team FASTtech!

Kevin sorry to hear about the contact. Hopefully itā€™s not too bad.

Last time I emailed Sean Delair, he was sorry to have missed comp school at mid ohio in April but planned on coming to putnam for HPDE and then doing the next comp school. So heā€™s ready

I really need to check this place more oftenā€¦

Great weekend and good to meet all the new guys this year. Looking forward to lots of racing with good sized fields.

ā€¦and who knew the pace lap counted. Lesson learned, be on the grid for the start.
