I’m feeling cautiously optimistic. Replacing the fusible link in the DME power cable and soldering the main relay socket crimps that power the DME got rid of the cutouts above 5k. There were still repeatable cutouts from 2500-3500rpm which seem to be gone with a change in the harmonic balancer. I can’t see anything wrong with the one I took out, but a scope trace of the CPS signal at idle is much cleaner now.
Next on the list is to fix the ABS, swap in a subframe modified for adjustable RTABS, and make a camera mount. And I need to get the car on a dyno and look at the A/F ratio. It feels a little flat above 5500rpm.
It has been so long since I’ve had a car that didn’t sput and miss that this is a whole new experience.
