maximum offset wheels

#1

now that the 2006 rules have removed the specific requirement for staying within +/- 5mm of the stock wheel track, I was wondering if 15x7 with 25mm offset gives the widest possible track, or if there is some more room on the outside of the tire assuming you roll the inner fender lip?

thanks,
bruce

I think 23 gives the most offset.

It’s legal to roll the inner lip but make sure you don’t roll the actual fender. That must remain stock.

9.3.13.9. Fender wheel openings shall remain unmodified.
9.3.13.9.1. It is permitted to roll under or flatten any interior lip on a wheel opening for tire clearance.

You need to spec a specific track width.

#5

why? we have spec wheel size, spec tire size and no mods to fender other than inner lip flattening. Isn’t that enough to constrain the max track?

Hehehe. Sounds like someone’s thinking of putting on 8" spacers and going open-wheeled SpecE30.

Seems like a simple way to me to keep it fair and easy. Obviously leaving a bit of tolerance for different wheels/spacers etc. Easy to measure too.

The ETK I have says the stock bottlecap wheels are 14" x 6" and have a 35mm offset.

The 15" x 7" cross-spoke wheels are 24 mm offset.
The 14" x 6" cross-spokes are 30 mm.

According to the rules you can go +/- 5mm on the track vs. stock. Not sure which stock wheels you can compare that to.

Hi ‘m’,
the 2006 rules have removed the +/-5mm requirement and you can use whatever offset wheel you like. Hence my question as to whether there is any more room to go wider when you already have a 25mm offset wheel.
thanks,
bruce

You are right, I was reading your rules comparison backwards…
