Mason strut bar doesn't work with adj camber plate

#1

to hopefully save someone else a hassle, I can report that the Mason strut bar ( http://www.masonengineering.net/images/E30frontallmotors.jpg ) is not compatible with adjustable camber plates that have the adjustment bolts accessible through the hole in the strut tower. I really liked the looks of the design structurally, but its bars that come across the top plate block access to camber plate adjustment screws. It would work fine with a fixed camber plate because there is still good access to the shock top nut. I’m buying a sparco bar and this test-fitted-only Mason bar will be posted for sale soon.
thanks,
bruce

That sucks.

It looks like the bar should work with the Vorshlag style camber plates, where the camber adjustment is done with the 3 studs that come through the strut tower.

But I thought the Vorshlag camber plate is not legal for us from a discussion a few months ago. Right?

I love their stuff - I have their studs - very happy with them.

Yeah, I missed that drama a few months back. They’re definitely not legal. Lame.

moot point, but I’m pretty sure that the e30 vorshlag plates have the adjustment bolts inside the strut tower opening as well.

FWIW we’re working on some new stuff and a strut bar is included but secondary to new camber plates. We will make sure that the bar will work with the camber plates. We have found that the Sparco design bar does nothing to stiffen the front of the car. The design has way too much flex due to the bends in the bar itself. Never fear a good alternative is coming.
