March Road Atlanta

I’m not privy to much in the way of money issues but the rumor I heard is that the cost of renting the Propits was increased by $7k. I’ve no idea what it normally costs to rent the Propits so if you say it was $1k last year, that’s more info than I have. That would mean $8k for the Propits. That seems like a lot for a bit of electricity, service the portapotties and dump some trash cans.

The real problem with this is that it scatters us all over the place. Having us as a group all parked together really helps with SpecE30 bonding.

#22

That’s ridiculous of RA if that’s the case. Makes going to RA far less appealing for campers.

#23

OK, the pro pit adder is $3500/day. OUCH!!!

New parking map released:

So who’s going to be there early on Friday? I’m trying to get there early afternoon. We should attempt to cordon off a SpecE30 area. Those runder toadster guys and their super-sized, mega-bus, toy haulers are going to take up a bunch of real estate.

#26

I fought off buying a generator and now it would seem I’m either going to need to bite the bullet or stay at the hotel. Not horrible but wasn’t the way I was hoping to start the year.

#27

I will be ther early Thursday so hopefully first in. I will do what I can but I really want to plug in. Is there any 50A anywhere?

#28

No working 50a other than the pro pits.

#29

New map is out. Looks like we got the skid pad. Nice job! I’ll be there early Thursday so I’ll do what I can.

#30

Looks like I might be doing the Instructor Clinic on Friday, so I can try and save some area as well.

#31

You guys really need to thank Pantas for the move to the skidpad which puts all the Spec E30 folks together.

He listened to your concerns and got us all in a central location.

We need to respond by having a BIG turnout.

Bring 'em on!

Look forward to seeing everyone.

Sandro, Robert, Laura, Richard…y’all come on and let’s play in PTD…calling you out:laugh:

#33

I’ll be there Friday to hang out, just signed up for the Friday fun race. It looks like we’ll be doing the PTD as well, as more people sign up and we get more peer pressure

#34

I have rec’d the boss’s blessing to go to Road Atlanta.

Ok, that’s overstating it. What she really said is “I’ll be out of the country so I can’t stop you.”

I’ll be bringing the boys. They’ve agreed to miss their soccer tournament if I can get them an Internet connection at the track and they get to play with Sandro and AR’s kids as much as they want.

We gonna have Internet down in the skid pad?

I’ve never seen Wi-Fi anywhere in the paddock that we could connect to. Years ago I was privy to the password in the tower but even that is long gone.

You could always get a phone or tablet with data/hotspot sharing. My Verizon iPad costs me $20/mo for 1GB and ability to make a hotspot. Not much use for streaming or anything intensive but it does in a pinch when I have to get online with my work computer.

#36

I have another logistics question about the skid pad from all those who have pitted over there before. Do we have reliable power or should I only count on a generator?

The trick is getting a good enough Verizon signal that my phone will share a data connection. In the pro pits this was a fail.

#38

As far as I recall, I haven’t had any signal issues with Verizon while in the outside paddock.

I’ll be running Comp School on Friday, so if all goes well, I’ll be racing this weekend! It’s great to see that there’s going to be a pretty sizable field for my first weekend.

#39

I have been able to get a signal in the swamp on both the phone and wifi.

#40

2 newbies coming out of Comp School on the same weekend. That’s really terrific.

Weather looks to be wet Friday, maybe Saturday morning, and then clear up nicely.

We’ll feed noon-chow to everyone in the SpecE30 paddock on Saturday.

I’ll be on site around 9PM Fri.

Those that arrive on Friday, for the love of god look at the parking map and any cars that don’t belong in the skid pad, kick them out.

22 Participants as of 8Mar. That means deep Toyo bucks.
