In a nutshell, I was slow. Very slow. And rusty. Saturday was awful, in part because the freshly shaved tires had absolutely no grip whatsoever and because I got punted by a Miata in the Esses during the race, which allowed the Lightning leader to pass me as the double yellow came out (or after the double yellow came out, in reality). Thanks to everyone who helped put my bumper and exhaust back on the car…

Sunday was a lot better. I put old tires on the car and they stuck like glue. I had some great battles in the back of the pack, which really helped me get some of my racing skills and confidence back. Most importantly, my last few laps of Sunday’s race were my fastest laps of the weekend, so I showed continuous improvement all weekend, which is what I was hoping for after a 19-month absence.
You got punted in the S’s but managed to avoid a wall? Wow! You don’t see that every day.

How old were the tires that did better than the new tires? More than a year old I imagine? How were they stored?
Yeah, I slid sideways through the grass for a bit and then got it back on track facing the right direction somehow.

The old tires were from November 2010. They were stored in my non-climate controlled garage and had 4 heat cycles on them (I think).

Any video of Bill’s punt? I noticed immediately after the Sat race that my hammer and white paint were missing from my trailer and we could not find Bill.

I’m busted. I didn’t think anyone would figure out that I damaged my own car in the paddock!

Saturdays Video: http://vimeo.com/38492673
Sundays Video: http://vimeo.com/38476922

Poor qualifying both days set me up for the most fun I have had on track to date. The midpack battle was filled with 2 and 3 wide racing, multiple passes and very clean racing considering how tight the group ran both days. Childress and Harness video was great to watch. While battling with Walsh, there was a lot going on behind us. I know it was not the fastest way to run but a blast to experience. Looking forward to Roebling and the IFU!!!
Finally got a chance to watch the vids tonight. I guess we can say with 100% certainty that there are no team orders at Walsh Lako Racing. :woohoo:

Team orders???..I tried to push Walsh off the road on the way down I-75 going back home, after he brake checked me.
