Making Weight

#1

Ok so the last few weeks I have been working on the bmw getting it ready for the competition school on March 28 at VIR. My question is with checking over the car I have not had time to get the car weighed to make sure I will make weight. I am a small guy so I am a little worried I will be under weight. Is there a shop I can go to get weighed before I head out to VIR so I have time to add ballast if need be?

-Thanks,
Brandon

Brandon,
It may be a trip from Mechanichsville. There is a shop in Northern VA that does it. RRT Performance, in Dulles, VA. Good guys.

Have you removed all the sound deadening? If the answer is yes you will almost definitely be under weight. I weigh 150 and I carry 85lbs of ballast. 50lbs in the passenger area and a roughly 35lb wheel and tire in the wheel well. I would add the spare tire if you’re worried. I also have a pretty substantial cage and have the windows still in the doors and operational. I do have all the sound deadening removed though. If I fill all the way up I’ll be around 30lbs over after a race, depending on length of course.

If you only care about overall weight and not corner weighting, try a truck scale in your area.

Thanks for the replys guys, I will just take it to the local truck stop and get it weighed there and when I get back I will do it right and get all my corner weights.

I just weighed my car today at a truck stop. 2555 without me or my fire suppression installed.

-Tank is full and the spare is in the trunk.
-All sound deadening material forward of the B pillar removed from the cockpit.
-The A/C is removed from the firewall forward.
-Car has two race seats installed.
-The sunroof cassette is removed.
-The cage is pretty simple in design.
