Low Temp Thermostat

#1

Changing the timing belt and a few other things while I’m at it. My radiator was KIA, so an all aluminum one is going in. Electric fan is too. Crank scraper is on the list, but not until I take the engine apart, sometime in the future. Since I’ll be under there anyway, I was wondering if I should go with a lower-temperature thermostat. I’ve searched, but I don’t see anything regarding people running a stock or lower-temp one. I couldn’t even find a place that sells em for the E30. So does anyone think it’s necessary?

I run a stock one, but didn’t used to. It helps to get the engine up to temperature sooner and contribute to a more complete combustion burn. I’m sure some racers choose to not run one, and I’d be interested in knowing why that is seen as better too.
