Looks Like I've Been Screwed

#1

Pulled the motor out of my recently purchased 325i and lo and behold the block is stamped 2.7 along with the head 2.7eta

Sooooooooo, it appears someone somewhere along the line put in an eta motor.

Now I need to start the hunt for a 2.5 I motor.

Any help,suggestions out there?

I’m about to lose my mind

Thanks

I’m in Rochester, NY

Look on the good side, you probably wanted a great rebuilt motor anyway. If you are looking for a donor they are plentiful. Look on craigslist or the local salvage. We have a pull-a-part here that sells them for $250 guaranteed to run.

We all have a starting point in this hobby.

However,it can be very expensive. You need to find a mentor in the Rochester area to help you.

Good luck.

Here is a fairly local guy parting out a 325i. Might have to register for the forum to view the ad though.

I saw a few E30s at Action on W. Henrietta Rd. a few weeks back too. Might want to give them a call.

Thanks all…

I’ve lucked out. Found a solid motor locally. Low miles and good maintenance.

You may want to check out the option suggested by Originalsterm. Play your cards right and you might be able to swap your motor for another one and a few bucks. Your won’t have any need for the 2.7 eta motor.

Glad you found a replacement

Good for you!

Might I ask where you found it? I’m always on the lookout for parts local…

Found while perusing R3vlimited. Buffalo guy - sounds like a straight shooter.
