Hi all…
Been a BMW owner and enthusiast for quite some time. I’m from central NJ and really looking to get involved with SpecE30s. What event(s) do you suggest I attend to get acquainted and learn more? Thanks for any help and I look forward to meeting some of you in the future.
Looking to get involved
Welcome! It’s good to here about another car in the NE.
Check out the NE Schedule at: http://www.nasanortheast.org/schedule.htm
I’ll be doing DE’s at several this year and I think we have two cars actually racing. If you want to see several SpecE30s racing, hit one of the MA races: http://www.nasaracing.net/sched_regis.htm
As it gets closer to one of the events, just post a “who’s going?” on this site and we’ll let you know if we’ll be there.
Bob
As one of the two cars actively racing in the NE, (the other being Sean Curran, “secu”, I can tell you its a good time to be getting in. This will be my first full season, I think Sean has done 2 so far and carried the NE flag at the Nationals
Pocono is close to you, a new track is opening in Millville, NJ, http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/ and at least 3 other cars will be doing DE and possibly competing this season.
As it has been suggested, check the schedule, we’d love to see you in the paddock. I’ll be going to VIR with the Mid Atlantic boys in March and Summit in June, as well as our stuff at Pocono and maybe Beaver Run.

It’s 3 cars, and I think mine was done before Sean’s.
-Matt, #232
I’ll probably have mine at a NE HPDE or two this year. My job being terminated in a couple months kind of slammed the brakes on getting licensed for the year.
We may not have the car ready until late summer / fall. Its a work in progress.
Thanks for all the replies and info!
Good to see more people joining the fun. Christian pretty much covered which events would be the easiest for you to go, so nothing to add there. Where in NJ are you? I’m up in Clifton, Matt’s from NJ as well (almost 100% sure of that). Keep us updated on the progress and let us know if you have any questions.

It’s 4 cars (maybe 5?) I think Christian got confused cause you spend too much time in MA
Yeah I’m in Flemington, NJ. And the only place I spend too much time, is at work! Bring on the spring time.
Gentlemen
Hope to get to a couple of HPDE’s this year after putting my E30 into a wall at the Glen last October. I will spend some money on a set of rain tires. They are cheap insurance and highly recommend them. I learned the hard way. So far I’ve got a new hood, fender, bumpers, had the frame straightened, and will have to replace the steering rack.
If you guys had to pick the best track to do a HPDE, which one would you choose ?
Thanks
Paul
Hi All,
I’ve been away and missed this thread - another racer lurking in the North East Big John (Gaunt). I hooked up with Sean and Christian last October.
I have now got my car back from Mark McMahan with an excellently fabricated cage (he really is a great guy).
So there are now only a few bits and pieces to tidy up. Catch bottle, electric cut-off and fire suppression - oh and an exhaust!?!!
So with work commitments and impending arrival of junior my schedule is limited:
Goal to attend the NASA race school at Pocono in April, some HDPEs and perhaps 2 race meetings
Look fprward to seeing you out there.

Good to hear the repairs are coming along. If you’re going to get new rain tires, might want to go ahead and get the new R888s. If you buy RA1s as rains, they’re still going to have tons of life left in them by the time we all have to make the switch to the new tire. As far as picking a track goes, out of the tracks NASA NE is going to this year, the Glen is my favorite. NJ Motorsports Park might be great but we won’t know until it’s finished. Lime Rock would be second choice, then Pocono. On the other hand, out of the three Pocono probably has the least amount of stuff to hit (when you’re in the infield at least) if that’s what you’re looking for. It just isn’t as good as the other tracks.
John, looking forward to you getting everything finished up and out there with us. Maybe we’ll be able to get at least one race with all of us NE guys there at once, that would be some good times.
Hey all I have been away from the boards for a while. I have been bust buying a house, changing jobs twice and now planning a wedding.
I am also from NJ i look forward to seeing some of you at the May Pocono DE.
your priorities are all messed up! :silly:

I agree with you, My priorities were messed up.
The new welder comes in next week and the e30 goes up on jack stands for a little while. Time to gut the interior and fix some rust
I don’t think I will be banging fenders with you guys this season. I will be there 2009. you will see me at some HPDEs and I will come out watch some of the spec E30 races.
