Looking for a roller

#1

Hey guys (and gal!),

Been pretty busy with work, coaching baseball, and working on my truck while the car has been up at Evil Genius. Talking to John today the cage is not going to be fixable so I need to re-tub my car. So I’m looking for a roller chassis. 325is would be great, but not required. Please let me know if you hear or see of one, even sitting by the side of the road!

Cheers,
AJ

Hey AJ,

Just did a search on CL and found this '87 325is for $500:

It even has the front spoiler!

Cheers,
Scott

Cool, thanks Scott. I did a crazedlist search on a bunch of areas and came up with not much. I guess I didn’t select Fresno!

#4

I did a “crazed list” too…I did all of California plus Reno, Nv.

That one in Fresno looks like a good deal.

Cheers,
Scott

Wow, looks like that car used to be red? If you pick up the car, lemme know, I want those pimp 17" wheels for my LeMons car

#6

Guy didn’t reply to multiple emails (no phone #). Now gone off of CL, looks to be sold. Sorry Adam.

Still looking for a roller.

#7

I’ve been keeping a look out for you, pickins are slim right now.

How about this 325it for a spec e30 chassis http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1195069156.html ? I bet nobody would protest

#9

AJ…looks like the car is back…the link works now:

Thanks again Scott - just sent a 3rd email, there’s no phone #. So far no response, will let you guys know once I get one. I’ll need to get a roller, strip the interior and have a cage installed before starting the parts swap.

Our 12 year old little league team got knocked out of our champ tournament today, so unless Zach gets picked up on All Stars, baseball coaching is over for the year so time to focus on racing and golfing again!

I agree the E30 T wagon is pretty sweet.B)

If you hear from the guy I’ll go take a look, make sure there is a subframe and suspension under it. Mi casa es Madera and I’m trying to figure out where that yellow house in the background is located.

I also really want to see those wheels

Chris

Hey Chris, that would be fantastic, thank you!

I’ll email him again and see if I can get a response. I asked him a bunch of questions because it’s about 2.5 hour drive down there and I wanted to have a better understanding of the car before making the driver. No phone number, but I offered to talk on the phone.

#14

AJ, if you’re putting all your mechanicals back into a new tub wouldn’t an ‘e’ car work just as well? Probably a truckload more 'e’s available tha 'i’s…

#15

AJ: Heres an ‘e’ car in Willows for $400. http://chico.craigslist.org/cto/1182677959.html

To the rest of you: I am insulted and offended that you would stoop to calling the entire sum total of my social life ‘crazedlist’.

AJ,

I finally found the yellow house and the E30 parked next door. Spoke to Mike who has the car after the current owner over heated it. He has been overwhelmed by the email on the car.

Looks like there are probably better donor cars out there.

Just having to replace the removed and bondo’d rubber side molding, obviously a performance enhancing mod

You could argue that the rough bondo more that negated any advantage

I PM’d a little more detail.

Chris

You didn’t address the most important part: how awesome were the 17" rims in person???

#18

AJ,

I have a roller with straight body no rust or damage.

It was really hard to get a good look at the rest of the car. I kept getting drawn back to that chipped flat black paint.

Sort of sums up the whole car.

Here’s a pretty clean looking roller for $600: http://www.baye30.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10924
He’s hot tanked the front and rear subframes. This is your chance to win the paddock concours by putting out mirrors so everyone can see the squeaky clean underside of your car!
