Let the fun begin

#1

Just received my Spec E30 kit from Carr Industries now the fun begins of installing it all. Which should be interesting cause I am going to do it myself. I hope to have it all ready to go for a Panoz event I am running in July. Another step in the right direction.

tire questions

Are shaved toyos still directional?

Assuming the above answer is no then with a tire that is worn a little more on one side would you put that on the inside or outside?

Congrats and good luck with the install - I think most of the Spec E30 field are self-wrenchers. You’ll find tons of help here if you run into any snags.

Toyos are no longer directional after shaving. Any way goes. In my experience, the outsides of tires wear quicker than the insides.

Have fun!

Holy cow, nobody ever told me that before.

Directional only for channeling water. Shaved tires are used for dry only so the direction doesn’t matter.

However, be sure to mount your rains with two lefts and two rights.

Thanks guys I thought I heard that you could stick the shaved toyos anywhere, just wanted to make sure. This next event will be my first on these tires.

I will stick the side with more wear on the inside then.

Okay what has changed in turn 7 that I need to know about. I have not been since the new pavement went down.

It is very hard to see the difference, but if you look very closly at the outside retaining wall, its sits back about 2.5 inches further than it did on 3/16/07.

Thanks guys I will keep an eye out for that moving wall in turn 7. The install went pretty easy, The car is going to the exhaust shop, then the alignment shop next week. I took it out for a spin an man could I tell the difference over my old DE setup(which was just shocks and Eibach springs). After Panoz I will get the cage done, and finish the safety gear. Now I just have to learn to drive it!!! Panoz should help with that, It is more$ but gobbs of track time. There are probably still slots open if anyone is interested.

Panoz was a blast, and the car did great the only problem I had was my electric fan crapped out Saturday morning right when I got back from tech. The car was a blast to drive on the new setup, and my lap times improved a bunch. I hope Skip Barber keeps doing the track days.

Dropped the car off at the cage builders yesterday morning, Things are finally rolling downhill with the build, and I am making lots of progress. I’ll post pics of the cage here when I get it back.
