Al can’t make the race so Greg Moberg is taking his place.

Our race is the weekend before the NASA race.

The car spent the Winter with me. It’s a 3 race Lemons veteran’86 325e that had an i motor put in. We got it for $500. It’s maintenance items are in good shape, and it has a very nice (albeit unusual) cage. It has OEM suspension.

Here’s the car in it’s previous incarnation.

This is what a circle track front end looks like. It’s a big-ass rubber thing about 8’ wide.

#3

Installing the circle track front end took a lot of head scratching, cutting, 400 rivets and one 2X4.

The circle track front end sloped forward dramatically and I had to reduce that somewhat or the darn thing wasn’t going to fit at all. I also had to cut out about 2’ of width.

The headlights are decals. In order to get air to the radiator I cut out the circle track front end’s radiator grill decal and put in a real metal grill that was similar to the decal it replaced. Then I fastened a kidney grill on top.

From the front, the circle track front end provides cool fender bulges.

Our inspiration.

As you can see, I didn’t get the light blue quite right. But painting was enough of a pita that I was undermotivated to do it over again.

James Clay graciously provided a SpeedTV window banner. Our Darwin Wrenching and number board decals went on in the same pattern as the BW cars. The image on the number board is of lemons.

unfortunately (or perhaps not  BW changed it’s livery now

Nostalgia FTW. We’re instantly “old school”.
