Kill Switch Wiring...again

#1

Hello

I jsut searched the forum and did not find what I was looking for so…I have the kill switch with the 4 post relay/alternator protection. The diagram shows a wire coming from the ign switch to this relay, my ? is, is this wire hot from the ign switch (when on) or does it supply juice to the switch??

Thanks

I think the wire you’re asking about is the thinner wire that runs to the battery - I believe it’s connected to the alternator on the other side, but it goes through the same point as the thick battery wire. I used the existing posts under the hood, on the passenger side to connect all my kill-switch points to.

The switch itself doesn’t need any juice.

Good luck!

Hello Vic

How does that kill the power to the engine then? if the alt wire is wired to the main post on the kill switch then the alt will be providing power to the car while running regardless of kill switch position, maybe some folks are interupting the exciter wire (small blue) but according to my diagram provided with the kill switch the 4 post relay has one connection for a resistor to ground, another for the coil, one for ign switch, and the last hot from main kill switch post while "on"…I had Rigmaster look at the diagram also and it just does not provide enough info…and of couirse if you wire it thru the coil as on the diagram, it gives you another relay DNF chance…

Yeah, now that I think about it, my memory seems a little fuzzier…I do know for sure that my kill switch does indeed kill the car, and I think one post of the switch is unused.

Maybe the wire from the alternator makes a stop at the connection post before going back to the distribution block? I dunno.

I did make all my connections from that block though.

The reason you can do all the wiring from the dist. block is because one of those wires feeds the main relay, which is the easiest way to kill the ignition and fuel.

If I remember correctly, I ran the wire that feeds the main relay, through one of the switched positions.
