It's done!

Well, sorta. I finished spraying the paint on the body yesterday and spent most of today putting bumpers/trim/smaller bits back on. I was really bummed about not making it to CMP this weekend, but I’m pretty psyched with how things are coming so far. Almost all of the suspension bits have arrived now, so I don’t see it being a problem trying to make VIR–I plan to register tomorrow.

great job on the paint scheme. I guess you didn’t have any old sheets or plastic to throw over those bottlecaps? :woohoo:

I had plenty of plastic, it wasn’t worth investment. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, these were pretty ugly; I’ll probably paint them (intentionally) and use them for something.

I repainted mine with Wurth wheel paint and just sold them on ebay for $155 plus shipping. And to think I almost gave them to the recycler for $40.

Sorry to get off the subject. Again, good job on the car. See you at VIR in a few weeks.

I used a single stage Limco 3 paint (Acrylic Urethane), which is supposed to be the hardest they have to offer (maybe it’ll resist chipping). I covered the garage in plastic and painted all the white inside. The colors I did later by rolling it outside, spraying, and rolling it back in. We’ve got two Binks guns and one no-name touch up gun, all of which I used at some point; for whatever reason, none of them seemed very consistent, which was not fun to deal with.

If you think it will resist chipping, may I suggest you resist Rockingham.

The car looks fab!

It’s just a racecar. It was one of those things where I was at the paint store and I could choose Paint A or Paint B; both cost about the same and this one might be better. Why not? I plan to acquire many many stone chips.

3M also sells a clear "mask". The entire front of my RV is covered with it. 6 years old and you still can’t tell that it’s on there unless you are really close. Not cheap stuff, but it’s effective.
