Introduction Post

#1

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself as I’ll be joining your division soon. I’ve met a few of you at local track events already and it seems like a great group of people.

I recently purchased Travis Wilson’s old car (Olde Gold 800…son) and am planning to make CMP in November my first race weekend.

For the last few years I’ve instructed DE’s and Time Trialed in an E36 325. I made the mistake of doing the 24 hours of lemons and that was enough for me to realize there’s nothing like wheel to wheel competition. So here I am.

See you all in a couple months! More than likely the car will still be gold.

Well no one will question your bravery driving Travis’ old car. They may question other things though.

Steve D. will tell you rookies have to wash his car.

Jones will tell you rookies have to shower with him.

Welcome aboard Evan. You’ll have the greatest time of your life. It’s a great bunch of guys, and they will do anything for you. Except, ah, provide emotional support.

I seem to recall telling you 3 years ago, that Spec E30 was where it’s at… Glad to see you’re finally coming around.

the Nov. CMP event will be a great weekend too. It’ll be the 3rd Annual IFU (a.k.a IFU3/ Inverted Field Unlimited III)… by the end of the weekend you’ll be asking yourself what took so long… and you probably won’t consider Lemons to qualify as w2w racing (it’s just time trial with stupid hats).

Looking forward to having you join us.

#5

Welcome Evan, but I was hoping I would never see that piece of $**t again.

Im putting you in the wall as soon as you hit the track. BAM!

Make sure you are up to date on all of your vaccines before climbing into that “car”

Congrats! it only took us three years of beating on you to sell that E36 and get with the program. Just watch out for Indy Jim, pretty sure he is bi-polar.

Be a gentleman and try to tag me on the driver’s side if possible, the fender and door are already pretty rough.

And for the record, Jones has been trying to get me to shower with him for years, this won’t be anything new.

Welcome, Evan. I question your sanity. My excuse is I didn’t know any of these characters before I dove into SE30.

And coming from Spec Miata he was pleasantly surprised to meet Jones and the shower ‘requirement’…

You’re implying it has working tail lights!?

In all seriousness, you’re all going to see this baby’s tail lights. 30 minutes should be plenty of time to pass me a few times.

#12

Why, does it have a legal motor now?

#13

Gasman wrote:

Yea, just a stock 100k M20. I couldn’t afford to buy it from Travis with the re-donk BRE motor in it.

#14

Yeah, I heard Hendrick motors were pricey.

#15

Welcome!

#16

Shockingly brief and concise for a guy who bills by the hour.

Yes, they are pricey, but it helped me take almost 3 seconds off my time at VIR. Too bad the guys upfront are still 2 more seconds faster…

Welcome Evan!

Definitely a great group of guys in the Southeast. Now go show them the fast way around the track.
