Infineon Weekend

#1

Hi Guys, great racing this weekend.

Thought it might be helpful to have an open forum about the structure of this past weekend & get some feedback. Lots of different thoughts & opinions about the format, so lets hear it…likes, dislikes, etc. Our collective input will only help Nasa do a better job in addressing our group concerns.

Good idea Steve! I was going to start the same topic but you beat me to it.

I liked the weekend because it was fun and different. I’m glad everyone brought their cars home in one piece as an inverted race field can be a recipe for disaster. I think having one of these kinds of events is good during the season…mid season preferably and maybe better at Thunderhill which is more forgiving than Infineon.

For the rest of the season go with the standard format and let the regional points leaders fight to the finish. Having finished 3rd in the qual race then having the field inverted for the race was a crazy view from the back. The view going into Turn 7 was wild…my whole field of view was all SE30 bumpers and tail lights.

I’m bummed my videocamera decided to go kaput this weekend :frowning:

New threads Steve, Scott and Poppy (since you guys tend to open all the new threads in NorCal. Can we have just one thread or two max, one before and one after for each event? Start threads like: “2011 June 11-12 Infineon” and then 2011 June 11-12 Post Race Infineon" This makes it easier to find in the future. Easier to follow. Poppy stick your weather in there as well. Frankly I think One thread for each weekend is enough.

OK now that housekeeping is done.

I agree, that’s why I started the weather post, first weekend post with just the dates only.

Sorry you didn’t get to run, with a broken shifter in lap 7 I know what it’s like to be a spectator. I must say I kept my head better than Steven as I coasted to a stop in turn 4b but my hand still hurts from beating the steering wheel!

Now with all the housekeeping done you can focus on your car, see you at THill!!!

Overall I thought it was very fun weekend and that’s what this series is all about.I think we should give Jerry a some award for being creative and adventurous for this event. It was a blast.
Now I’m maybe not so concerned about points at this point, but the battle for second and third, those guys might be a little frustrated. Like Scott said, Mid season mix it up and have fun. Near the tail end of the season keep it more on the conventional side of running the race which I’m sure Jerry was already planning.

I liked the Qualifying grid random picks. That will eliminate the prepre racing.

Oh and the BMWCCA BBQ was the bomb. We need to thank those guys BTW. We need to step up our BBQ’n. I think a BTM Sponsored BBQ just might need to be in order.

The flying start was very poorly executed. Maybe we should do more of these for the qualifying races so everyone gets how to lead the pace.

Are we going to start Friday night Bike races on the track?
