Two weeks ago I had a block on a stand, 5 tubs of parts and a dead car with wires hanging out of the engine bay. It would have been a lot easier to just run my Mazda and finish the E30 over the offseason. It also would have been a lot easier to just drop a junkyard motor in. But 2 straight 3 day weekends plus several evenings, lots of hours, pots of coffee and Coors Lights. My wife is a saint, for days I’ve been coming in for dinner and going to soccer games with black hands in my nasty garage clothes.
Tightened the last bolt on Halloween, and she fired right up first try. What an amazing feeling. A testament to taking my time and doing everything right (knock on wood). I’ll do a couple of sessions on Saturday, take it home and check it out and then race on Sunday.
