Here we go spring weather, Friday and Saturday temps into the high 70s Sunday cooler low 70s.

I am here in SAC on business in Rancho Cordova… I saw Walter yesterday and will see him again tomorrow, I really wish I could stay through Saturday and go to the track to hang out… mustresistbuyinganyold325torace**

Kieran,
Stick around through next week, I have a rental car available…It’s the one in Walter’s shop that just had a 2.5L installed. It was a “front runner” as a 1.8L can only imagine how much better it will be with a 2.5L.

Bennett,
Need a suggestion…I want to thank Tom for always helping me out, especially last event when he crawled under the car to tighten things up…What’s his vice? Keep it clean now…

#11

Yeah I saw the car - nice car… The history on it is pretty significant!!!

#12

Scott,
Any idea who is signed up. I hope your car is ready!

We’re in, I still have to sign up for the event. It’s been a mad dash to get everything ready in time! We’ve built just about the whole car last weekend and finishing up the odds and ends this week.

Can’t wait to see you all out there!

The car was delivered from paint last friday night as just a rolling chassis. A heroic effort from Kenny and myself, we’ve gotten the car 100% race ready with shake down in 4 days. We still have to put on vinyl but we will post the time lapse video soon!

I want to thank Valley Motorwerks and Edge for all their help and massive amounts of parts! It’s a completely new car, though still bronzit on the inside  And also LOTS of thanks to Kenny and family for the long hours and support!!!

Congrats on getting her ready! Edge and Valley are great people.

So you are coming out at just the right time, with the heightened attention on contact your car should be safe

BTW I want to acknowledge Scoot for stepping up and pointing out his own mistake in the race. You are a big man. In the heat of battle everyone makes mistakes and stepping up and posting it for all your competitors to see is very Strong in my opinion. That is integrity.

Scoot I have said this to you and I will say it here for everyone, I think it is going to be real tough for all our cars to run the rest of the season with out damage. It is a good goal. This is a tough competitve group with a lot of very close talent. Many mid packers are now front runners. You could have thrown a blanket over the front 8 cars in the third lap on turn 2. That is tight. This is a lot like restrictor plate racing. You have a bunch guys now that believe they belong at the front.

Everyone in Spec E30 will no doubt work really hard to follow the proper passing rules (as outlined on pages 112-129 in the NASA CCRs), yet mistakes will occur and when a lot of cars are close together…well we have all seen what can happen. Personally I am afraid to fix my car up perfect cause it may get bumped again, I accept that. My line will be better this time out and I am not going to open the door to my door again so easily.

I may get grief for this next statement…we are just a bunch of amatuers. Shoot even the Pros wreck and touch. Don’t get me wrong though guys, I hope we can all avoid contact. In fact if you all just do what you are taught by the DMV, everything will work out well…at least for me…when you see black and white, slow down and pull off to the side!

(If you read my post before the edit, you will see I have changed it. Apparently the BMW CR is no longer racing with us according to their website they have cancelled yet another race)

Kevin,

The BMWCR boy’s canceled their race with us as they did not want to run with us with our modified 13/13 rule, so you do not have to worry about them running with us. They would have been good with their own race group so they could enforce all their own rules their way. They did not put much credence in Jerry’s letter to all of us to behave and that contact would be penalized. They are a good bunch of people and I know many of them. They have very few races due to the restrictions that the CR rules (that they made)put on them and thus a very low attendance with virtually no new people joining them. I truly think that they like it that way otherwise they would have gone through with racing with NASA this weekend and our “Gentleman’s” agreement that we would be extra specially cautious. They are an animal that may be extinct soon unless they embrace other organizations such as NASA. I personally would rather run door to door with no contact but if contact occurs we always talk it over to prevent it from happening again and move on.
You may as far as I am concerned and should as well as all of us always voice your feelings whatever they may be. We are all Adults playing like big Kids!

My 2 cents!

10-4 Scott,

That is what I figured happened. I sent an e-mail to Jerry to confirm, but sounds like you did just confirm it. I am sorry for them. I looked seriously at running with them. There are many great guys as you say, many of them were my instructors over the years and I really owe them a lot. Many of them like Ralph and VJ were responsible for creating my desire to race.

Regarding the dying animal you speak of, that is why I ultimately chose not to get a car and run with them. I went to several races and watched how it was a tight little group with few new ones joining and more falling off the ranks for time constraints or costs, whatever. I watched them canceling events. I watched the incredible circus when Ralph had a brake line come loose and he hit another participant. It was like a supreme court action was taking place. Plus I truly had no desire to run with just 1 or 2 competitors or maybe none, and walk away with a win. Shoot I could run down to SoCal and win every month, unless Steve shows up, in Spec E30 and it would be significantly closer. I am making the commitment to NorCal 'cause I want to truly challenge myself.

I am sorry they are not coming up to run in GTS or whatever. I do see several of the BMW CR guys are running in GTS in SoCal. So some of those guys are willing to run with NASA. Well another of their events is now canceled and they will continue to lose ranks. PCA racing has almost completely died off in the US. BMW CR is, I think, headed in the same direction. Jerry and NASA have got it figured out. They run a great program. Even though Austin and I have taken some lumps, which we deserved, we have learned and have great respect for the program.

If you know the BMW CR guys, tell them to come up and run in GTS. Tell them to come hang out in the Spec E30 pits. Maybe they will want to pick up a Spec E30 have have fun racing against a full field!

Congrats again Scott on your first top of the Podium finish! I am sure you will have more to come.
