I am very disappointed that I won’t be there for IFU5. Someone - guess who? - booked us to host a social gig this weekend without checking the race schedule. Arrrrrggggghhhh. But you guys enjoy!! Should be a great weekend. See you at RA in December! Jon
IFU-5 -- Yes, it is happening
I just signed up for sprints and plan to do the IFU. Brother Jeff can’t make it.
Tom, what size shirt do you need? I have a few extras
IFU 5 is now history. And it was a HOOT! changing to the two short track configs (and pushing the leaders to the back) was a ton of fun!. And the double “one to go” flags was a cute touch that caught some folks out.
I sat this one out and let Rob Hall run the Pink Panther - it was a hoot to watch each racetrack reconfig - three racetracks - one race! Where else but the IFU can you see such wild action?!?!?!
Kudos to Jim, Tom, Chuck and everyone involved for making the IFU-5 a huge success. The short track configs were much more interesting and fun than I ever thought would be possible. The racing was fast, clean, and gentlemenly. I’m happy to be back in the fold, now I just have to figure how to shave off a few seconds so I don’t get dropped = LOL!
Unfortunately Camera cut out early for some reason, but at least this caught the action at the start.
Holy Smokes, did you guys see the lap speeds from IFU on MyLaps? Lako was tops, at 137.9 MPH! Who knew these old sleds could blister the track like that?
I was really curious how they were keeping time and laps. Oddly enough, there is no lapchart. Imagine that.
Some great battles going on there. Looked like a lot of fun. Thanks for posting the videos.
I can’t believe it, 5 IFU’s and never a scratch. I was able to check out from the pole and lead the first lap, was hoping some of our “friends” were watching and did a 360 spin off between 1 and 2, kept it running, and rejoined after everyone was past. At that point I could not catch up, my rear tires were toast. The caution and reconfig allowed me to battle but my car really did not like the right turn into 1, had to go straight to miss the tires. The double white was great, nice touch. I think everyone looks forward to watching us race, how about a reverse short course next year??
If you missed it, well you missed it.
Al
i’d love a reverse course but it’ll never happen, the barriers only cover one side of the safety stations so they’d be totally exposed. i was fortunate to be part of a group that ran vir south counter-race a few years ago and the workers called it off after 20 min fearing for their lives!
I’ll let you guys be the judge. In hindsight, I think I might have jumped the green flag on that last restart. :woohoo:

Great racing all weekend especially with Al Taylor.
