IFU-5 -- Yes, it is happening

#1

Sorry for the news blackout gang; we’ve been talking generally about this for awhile, but wanted to get this out there so those of you on the fence and thinking about CMP can go ahead and get your plans together.

Here’s what is known so far:

[ul]
[li]Jim and I have committed to do it again this year[/li]
[li]It will be an extra-cost bonus/fun race late in the day, same as usual
[/li]
[li]Is only open to SpecE30 race cars
[/li]

[li]Must participate in the regular NASA weekend (i.e. can’t sign up only for IFU[/li]
[li]Jim and NASA have agreed to split the cost of the track OT, so the cost will be lower than past years, but I can’t quote it yet, because…[/li]
[li]ScottMC is looking to see if he can line up a fast-turnaround shirt vendor, so we’re not sure if there will be a shirt[/li]
[/ul]
Once we answer the shirt question, I can set pricing, and will set it up so participants can pay in advance via Paypal (discounted) or at the track for a higher fee.

Jim and Tom have been working on several IFU concepts, so I think however it ends up, will be a very fun experience.

hopefully it will be like last year, not too late in the afternoon, with the setting sun it is tough…

I am in, as I have done every IFU…

Al, no, we talked about the sun, and it won’t be end of the day. Also, this is is a few weeks earlier than past years which will make it less of an issue.

What is the date for this event? We should be able to bring down some rental rides if anyone needs our service. would love to make it

22-23Oct. I think that over the last several years this weekend has seen the largest field of SpecE30’s in the nation.

I’m in! :woohoo:

ScottMC is finishing up a rush job shirt design, so I will do some figuring on costs, price and all that and open up for payment this evening, most likely.

Lot of thanks to Scott for pulling something together with such a short lead time!

#10

In! Welcome back ScottMC. Who else can we round up?

#11

Unfortunately ScottMC isn’t racing; only handling the shirt. I just saw a proof and it’s very cool.

I’ll post some links to the MA, mid-south (MS?) and FL pages tonight as well to drum up participants.

I don’t know if Travis has a car anymore, but he may bring a LeMons machine and give it a go.

#12

Awesome!!! Definitely looking forward to it after missing last year.

Gang, the IFU-5 registration window is open for business. Many of you have done this before, so you know the drill.

This is an extra, fun race, for SpecE30 cars only, that will be run on Saturday, in addition to the usual Lightning race group activities.

Thanks to some generous support from NASA-SE, the price is lower this year, at $60 per entrant. The requirements are that the driver/car must also be registered for the regular NASA weekend (i.e. you can’t just show up for the IFU) and you must race a SpecE30 car.

Included with the race entry fee is a very cool T-shirt, designed by ScottMC, BUT, I must have your payment in hand (Paypal or snail mail) by a drop-dead date that we haven’t set yet (Scott is still working details out with supplier) in order to guarantee a shirt. Entries after that date are allowed, but you will probably miss out on the shirt, and you wouldn’t want that to happen.

With your payment, please specify shirt size (S-M-L-XL-2XL), and note there is a $3 upcharge for 2XL. If you want to pre-order more than one shirt, additional shirts are $15 each, or $18 for 2XL.

You can either Paypal (charles.taylor AT terrigoren DOT com) or snail mail the funds to me, at

Get signed up, register with NASA if you haven’t already, let’s have a great time together at CMP on October 22nd!

I can’t make the race but I am in for a shirt for sure. I look forward to the stories and video.

#15

I need to place the order with the shirt supplier a week from today, so the due date to get your orders in and be sure of having a shirt is noon Tuesday 10/11!

#16

Chris, sorry you can’t make it, but absolutely, if anyone wants a shirt but can’t make the race, just paypal me with size, and if you need it mailed, throw in another $5 for postage.

#17

Paid. :woohoo:

PS - I would accuse King Tut of being a poseur for just buying a shirt, but that is one sweet design by McMennannanannnaammmy. I can see why he wants one.

#18

CMP is too much of a haul. How about we move it back to Roebling next year? I got a shirt last year as well, but at least I was there to watch it.

Actually I am the one and only poser/procrastinator.
my name is Dexter and i am an XL.

NASA-SE proudly presents the annual Great Pumpkin Run at Carolina (CMP) on Oct 22-23, 2011. This will be a fun filled event that promises to exceed all previous levels of NASA-SE quality events. We will have our normal schedule starting on Friday and continuing through out the weekend. This event includes:

High Performance Driver’s Education (HPDE) - drivers of all makes and models of cars can sign up and begin at the novice level (HPDE 1) and work their way to advanced driving skills. All drivers start with classroom instruction as well as an in-car instructor to guide you to drive your car at the limits. All of this takes place with the safety of a racetrack under controlled conditions.

Time Trials (TT) - Drivers will compete for their fastest lap times and win all types of contingency money and prizes. The beauty of TT is the fact that you can do all of this with only your street car and a helmet!

Sprint Races - All of the standard NASA classes will be participating, 944Spec, SpecBoxter, American Iron(AI), Factory Five Racing (FFR), German Touring Series (GTS), Honda Challenge(HC), Performance Touring(PT), SpecE30, SpecMiata, Super Unlimited(SU), Super Touring(ST), etc. Cars will be split up into groups and the racing will be intense to watch and participate in!
