IFU-3 Survival Thread

Vimeo still in post-processing, but this should be up in about 30 minutes…It’s the finish of the IFU-3 race, shot from Kelly’s 168 car, which was at the front of the center line: http://www.vimeo.com/7495034 Around the :35 mark you’ll hear somebody yelling “Run Forrest”

That race was crazy-stupid, but for some reason everybody was laughing when it was over. Go figure, you guys are all crazy!

Add your clips and stories here!

Awesome shirt Scott, and fantastic trophy Craig!

End of IFU from right behind Kelly. Laura’s door provided quite a hazard for people to navigate around.

Was crazy fun. I was was a little surprised that there was no carnage. Everyone was racing really hard and no one wanted to give an inch. We went thru turns in a couple tightly packed groups of 6-8 cars, nose to rear and door handle to door handle. At every couple of turns someone would peel off into the dirt sideways.

I say again, turn after turn, lap after lap nose to rear and door handle to door handle. With a car peeling off into the dirt at regular intervals.

It was sheer madness.

God how it was fun.

Best race of the weekend from a spectator’s viewpoint too. Especially the final sprint. One for the books.

I have to send a big THANKS to Chuck, Patton, McMiniMe for organizing, hatching the idea, and commemorating it with a kick a$$ t-shirt, respectively.

Of all the weekends for my video not to be working… :frowning:

Thanks to my solidly medicore qualifying, I was gridded 11th for the start and managed to make it to 4th or 5th for the re-invert. By sheer luck I lined up for the standing start behind Geiger. And when I say lined up, I mean tattoo’d his rear bumper when the flag guy stopped Craig short (and I wasn’t really watching where I was going. After I whacked Craig’s big bumper, the flag guy started waving the yellow, pointing at me and yelling “He hit him!!! He hit him!!!” The other flaggers told him to calm down and wave the flag if that happened AFTER the green. I must have rattled Craig because I pwn3d him on the start. BAM!

Thanks to Greg Moberg for putting out the fire after the finish.

You’se a good buncha guys (and girl) to hang out with.

PS - It was nice to meet Dexter and John Anthony, a couple guys from Snellville, GA who are HPDE-ers building their way toward Spec E30. I think IFU showed how competitive AND fun we make club racing.

That is pretty funny. Bit we need some actual racing video and reports form the rest of the weekend. is enduro.

Thanks in advance.

Here is my IFU video. This race turned out to be 10 times crazier than the sprint race but it was tons of fun. Gotta thank Bill for letting me back on track after going off at the carousel.

Can’t thank Chuck, Jim, and Tom enough for a great event. Now to beat Scott in paying in advance to get pole for IFU-4

Nice… I think Kelly spends more time in the grass than Travis spends with his car going in straight line

great video. I can’t wait to see more.

I’ll try to get my video and a weekend report posted tonight…

Thanks again to Chuck, Jim and Tom for pulling this off. Y’all outdid yourselves this year. I hate that I’m going to miss Road A… but what a great way to finish off a season.

I have never had more fun while dressed in my life.

Thanks to all the organizers!

Wow… what an introduction to NASA. The IFU-3 was my second race and my “situational awareness” was on overload. Frankly I can only remember bits and pieces but I do know I had a great time as I have the permanently stained clothing to prove it.

Great fun, thanks to all.

How do we keep getting away with this??? I basically drove around and watched, I have never seen so much dust flying during a race

#14

What a blast! :woohoo: Screwed up the kink lap 1 for a wild ride and 1 lap following the standing start rattled the fuel pump relay loose wide in 14 over the gators ending the IFU 3 laps early. Thanks to Chuck, Jim, Scott MC and everyone for a great event. I appreciate all the help fixing the car, Travis for the relay advice and Chuck for offering the parts.

I have some footage from the race, but don’t want to upload the whole file. I want to take out the waiting and warm up out. Is the an application that I can use for that (easy to use) - does youtube have something? Possible put in a little text.

It sure was exciting and the blowers surely worked hard on Sunday morning cleacing the track. With a some marketing I think we can charge admission for IFU races

Scott, I was just living up to the green/yellow paint on the car…

I have used Windows Movie Maker and recently switched to Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum

Here’s the in-car footage from the Pink Panther - thanks to Madooooski’s video camera.

Vimeo is back up and running, so here is my whole video from IFU3: http://www.vimeo.com/7551333

Thanks again to Chuck, Jim, and everyone else that helped come up with this insanity. It’s a miracle with so many five and six car packs that we didn’t wad up a bunch of cars. From what I saw, most everyone was racing hard while allowing room for the insanity.

Okay finally got my video uploaded. Had a blast!!!

Enjoy:
