For me, the fouling problem at idle was the pressure regulator and damper. While in my 944, the regulator was safely under the hood, on the 325’s it’s under the car and mine was completely rusted. They aren’t expensive, I’d try that first. And yes, don’t use the Platinum plugs.

I got a verbal spanking during my annual tech twice now for not having those, and was told I could be protested if I ever won anything, so I finally got around to putting them back in. Um, the car does not feel slower for having them. :wink:

Greg, When I purchased my car, it had a K&N air intake with the headlight backing plate removed. Carter Hunt very kindly pointed out that the K&N air filter intake was allowed but the backing plate could not be removed. The K&N filter assembly without the headlight backing plate removed is actually a disadvantage. Putting the stock air box back on my car actually improved performance.

It was good! I am back in Mississippi and hope that Shelly can get it from analog to DVD and then maybe I can get someone to post it or at least send you a copy. Some close racing. Just don’t tell anyone we were bump drafting as I don’t want to get any points :slight_smile:

Hyperfest was my 1st races ever also. My car is a newly finished project. First one ever for me, too. And no parts fell off!
Quite a diff from DEs. I guess I’ll live with life at the back of the pack for awhile. Passed a few cars in the 2nd race to advance my position some so I’m relatively happy and ready to do more.
I’ll never forget this one. I think I was the first one to happen upon the porsche clash. One was spinning toward me, narrowly missed and I went on thru the cloud of dust not knowing what was in there, missing the other one on its top. Whew!

I gotta mention this…over on the other side of the track during the drifting, it seems some of the American Iron guys thought it would be fun to take a hot tub over on a trailer…I am pretty laid back but there is no way in hell I would get in a bacteria broth at an event like this. Anyways when I happened upon the hot tub lets just say there was someone pretty big in it, and it looked like they were wearing a gorilla suit.

On the early cars(my 87 iS had one) there is a fuel ‘item’ under the driver side rocker panel. I think it is called a Pulse Damper or something like that. I believe it is supposed to smooth out the fuel flow from the pump. On the street car I simply removed it.

Al[/quote]That hot tub was the raffle prize…5 bux a ticket and the proceeds went to the Kimmel Cancer center. Hairy dude and one onher guy were the winners. Up until they got in, it was a fresh fill of water and no one got in. After though I have no idea…

These engines are so close to stock - mine is stock down to the airbox - that I’ll always use the stock plugs. BMW picked them for a reason.

Sean - didn’t the factory also specify the W8LPR as an option? That is what we have been running without any problems.
