HPDE suspension setup

#1

I’m taking my car in for an alignment on Friday and I wanted to see what you guys recommend they set the camber and toe to.

Actually, I’m guessing that they probably won’t be able to adjust camber without camber plates but I want to at least get the toe set correctly.

Is this car going to be also driven on the street, or is it a dedicated track car?

For a track car, I would personally go with 1/16 toe out in the front. Some folks prefer zero toe. Whatever you do, don’t toe in.

Do you have anything to add adjustment in the rear? If so, go with zero toe or slight toe in. If you haven’t added eccentric bushings or weld-in subframe bits, you can’t adjust rear toe and are stuck with whatever you get.

Sounds like the only thing they will be able to adjust will be your front toe. I would say just zero it out and make sure you get a print out of what your alignment is so you will know how far off you are from optimal.

Set the toe like stated above. For your 1st track day it won’t matter as long as it’s close. When you get to Putnam, hand out with us (I’m in the red 21) and we will be glad to answer any and all your questions.

If you have an adjustible rear bar, set it full soft.

For Putnam, just be prepared to rotate your tires once during the weekend.

Why do I have to rotate my tires? I live decently close to Putnam so I’m going to go home that evening so I could take care of it then.

Because Putnam beats the snot out of the LF, you can’t run the same tire up there all weekend (I destroyed a brand new Kook in a 3hr enduro–and the rest of the tires looked new). Sat night you should criss/cross them (LF to the RR, RR to the LF, etc.)

The track is 8 rights and 2 lefts. Left front will wear most, so rotating the tires will help even out the wear.

We will have tools at the track, so if need be we can help you do it there too.

Where are you from? I grew up in Avon, but now live in Cleveland, OH. Went to school in the Haute.

I’m from New Castle, PA (about an hour north of Pittsburgh), went to undergrad in Erie, PA, grad school in Champaign, IL, and am now living in Columbus, IN (about 30 miles south of Indy).

I know where you’re at. I have friends in Columbus. So, do you work for Cummins?

Yeah
