How To Tip - Removing Sound Deadening Material

#1

You know the sheets of black sound deadening material under the seats, carpet and center console…tough stuff to remove. I used a heat gun/putty knife to remove the bulk material and found that mineral spirits and a steel wool pad worked great getting the remaining black residue off. A bonus about using the mineral spirits is its low odor and it’s not too harsh on skin. I would recommend wearing protective gloves though. A quart should be plenty to do one car.

After the putty knife and heat gun (best solution I found as well), Goo-Gone removed the residue extremely easily with by just pouring on and wiping off with a rag.
