How to get started in Spec E30 *Special Case*

#1

Hey everyone, I’m Mike and i’ve been following the growth of Spec E30 from my comfty command center here in front of my laptop for the better part of a year… I had an IT-A 325eS and now have a IT-S 325i in the works… about 60% done… here are two pics one of the 325eS (RIP) and of the 325i (being built)

My question is that i’d like to take the car to a few events in the Southeast, namely Florida if there are events there… b/c id have to bring my car in from Puerto Rico which is where i live and race…

so in summary will NASA grant me a license based on my current Club racing and FIA active licenses and if so where do you guys race in the Southeast? How much are the race entry fees and such?

thanks for your help,

Mike

P.S. it would be awesome to get a bunch of Spec E30 cars down here for a race… you’d get ur own race without other classes and with standing start and night racing… i think it would be a hoot!

I would not think getting the license would be a problem. I was granfathered in with BMW CR and SCCA licenses. Just fill out the form, add a spreadsheet of all the races, etc. you have done and give them the money. I am sure you will get a license in the mail.

Why build an E30 for ITS? I should sell you mine. I guess maybe ITS is different down there.

Good luck.

Thx for the licensing info.

BTW ITS over here is the same as over there… i don’t understand the root of your question for building a car for ITS… if you mean that why specifically build an E30 325i for ITS well then that’s clearly because the only class in which i can run apart from SCCA GT-2 is in SCCA ITS, and i would not race anything other than an E30… i have 3 of them and i love them…

cheers,

Mike
